  1. Im 26 weighing 66-68KG's unladen. I am reasonably fit from a lifetime of sport. I am not in top nick though do to permenant injury - I have already broken both femurs, blown my left knee, semi-frozen left ankle, not skydiving related but motorcycling related. Life's a bitch but you adapt so I'm always looking for new challenges. Thanks muchly for the responses! Raver1
  2. Hi guys, Im moving this over from the general board, here goes: Ive got 34 jumps under my belt, weigh 68KG's and have reasonable canopy control for my level of experience. I am looking for my first rig and I am pretty excited about it all :) I'm looking for advice (both on and offline) on what to look for and what to avoid when it comes to shopping around for a first rig. What size canopy should I be looking for? What types are good and bad for a low-time jumper? I've talked to a couple of people IRL about these issues and have scored some wildly different opinions, so what is yours? Cheers Ravs

    First Rig?

Second hand is definately what I am looking at. What I am interested in knowing is about what size and type of canopy/container I should be aiming for, and what pieces of gear I should avoid. Also, how old is too old when it comes to second hand? What bits if gear show excessive wear and should be looked at really carefully when I choose a rig? Clueless Raver1

    First Rig?

Hi guys, Im running around seeking advice on what I should be looking at for a first rig. I weigh 68kg's or thereabouts and have done 34 jumps. My canopy control is reasonable for my level of experience. Blue Skies! Raver1
  6. I think TA on your first couple of landings should be compulsory. Doing tandem first should be up to the student, or if their AFF JM is not confident in the students abilities they should have to do a tandem. I completed AFF a few months ago with no previous tandem experience and I think I got through it pretty well. I am actually proud of the fact that I have never been a passenger on any of my jumps - but having seen other students go fetal on exit, I empathise with JM's. Re insurance: I just wish the weenies that sue would wither and die, or simply never turn up in the first place. This isnt chess FFS!!
  7. heh just cause I your aussie it does NOT mean you like vegemite (perhaps the most disgusting substance on earth). Its some sort of yeast extract isnt it? From beer? Why dont we like it more then? Ravs
  8. I can confirm that is rubbish. Funny, but rubbish Ravs
  9. Just to chime in here, I jump T-wah and have never seen any pilots or jm's, or for that matter, anyone including the punters, go up off their nut on anything. Nobody there is that stupid. Cheers Raver1
  10. hehe sorry I should check my spelling!!
