  1. I've jumped at Dillingham, the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very quiet with just three tandems - although very windy, it was a very scenic dz. All in all I would say it's worth a look. I don't think the other one was open at the time so I couldn't say one way ot the other.

  2. Worse case scenario you end up gearless. An absolute bummer, and yes, people who steal should be shot.
Although in the great scheme of things you can recover from this. If it goes that way put it down to bad experience and just try and save up bit by bit to replace it eventually. Try not to lose sleep over it though.
(Having said that you might be able to keep it??).

tried to go union. I was trying to be an electrician, couldn't pass the LA ibew test. passed the orange county ibew test, and 4 months later got a letter stating I sould get another letter for an interview. Called them several times, and the only answer I would get was "interviews are held once a year, in August" .. They wouldn't even take my name or anything.. August rolled around *10 months after I took the initial test* And I hear nothing. Tried calling, and again, got nowhere. Applied for the cal/nevada linemens union, met the requirements, but did horrible on the interview, so didn't get into that. My stepdad is in sheetmetal union, and loves it. I know there are benefits, and I think if I get the chevron job, it is union, but let me tell you.. the oc ibew training trust has me discouraged about unions. Seems they all cry about needing people, but make it impossible to get in.

so, what union are you in?

I passed the LA ibew test in march of last year (08) and had the interview last week. I also passed the interview and was THEN told - "If you don't hear from us you can reapply in another two years" wtf??
It makes no sense to me why they even bother holding tests/interviews when there are no jobs to go to.
Just for the record I've passed other union exams and got absolutely nowhere after them, (not just electrician either).

  4. Get a B license and stay current as much as possible while juggling home life/college/job hunting and all those sorts of things.
A canopy course would be great too.
Do the tunnel at ifly, Hollywood. That's it for now, see how things are in a few weeks...
Oh and try to get out on saturdays more?! :P

  5. I bought a car from a dealership in California on a UK/international license, no problems whatsoever. The biggest problem was finding insurance, I could only find two that would insure an international license, Geico and Progressive, Progressive being the cheaper. Other than that no problems at all.
It's probably easier than you think, hope that helps.

I'm done drinking after seeing how much of an ass someone can possibly make of themselves. I decided that I do not want to be that person. This is not a new years resolution but an epiphany after watching others. No, epiphany is an actual word, not just a name black people give their kids.

Sounds like we had very similar nights [:/]

Well, the first thing I'm going to do is become a rigger - starting Saturday, I'm attending our 9-day senior rigger's course!

I've been told I'm about to have my ass handed to me - sounds like fun. :P

Then I'll tackle becoming a non-smoker; I'm getting really sick of those little cancerous bastards.

That was my last years resolution too. I managed to do it (although it was hard). This years is trying to lose the weight I put on as a result :P
