  1. Yep, did it myself. It makes a HUGE difference. The walls provide a reference point so you quickly understand and learn the impact body position has on flight. The only thing I might suggest is going to the tunnel while you are a few jumps into your student progression, like when you are down to a single jump master with no grips. Or, at least try to practice some of the category skills like docking and arching/de-arching. I split the time between a group and if I remember correctly I had 30 minutes in 2 minute flight increments. That was more than enough time. Good luck and have a blast as a student!
  2. I am relativley low time belly flying with about 80 jumps. Last weekend I exited with a buddy to do some "carving". A slight tumble on the exit caused us to end up in the perfect position to ride it head down. With a good freeflyer giving me some reference we flew a perfect head down together for about 20 seconds. He introduced me to the "dark side". It was f'ing intense for me. It felt like my first skydive. Disclaimer...no I am not trying to fly head down now. I know there is a progression and will be following it.
  3. Everybody has a different idea of what love is and means. To me, love is not something that is shown or given. Love is not a diamond, a flower, cool new camera, a kiss or telling someone that you love them. Lasting love is extremely rare and no amount of "respect" can purchase it. My personal best explanation of my opinion is that love is ultimate acceptance without judgement, denial, fear, doubt or uncertainty. With most people love quickly comes and goes as they respect, disrespect, lie, tell the truth, cheat, judge, blame, complain, cherish or whatever. Basically, love quickly disapears when egos battle with each other over who or what is right or wrong. When love is present there are no bad feelings, no disrespect, no doubt, no fear. Analogy: Darkness cannont exist in the light. So, to get to my point. Respect or disrespect is a condition of the human consciousness and the ego. Love on the other hand exists only in the absence of the ego. That is why analyzing the statement is going to be futile. Either people love each other or they do not. Whoa, that was deep man... /The Love Doctor
  4. Polyandrous Family Group The smallest New World monkeys, the marmosets and tamarins, form both monogamous and polyandrous family units. They generally start with a monogamous mating pair. (The alpha male) Later, a second adult male, or a third, a fourth, maybe a fifth or more may join the family and assist in "parachute packing". When this occurs, both or all or whoever the hell will potentially mate with the adult female. This polyandrous mating pattern is extremely rare among non-human primates but does occur in some human societies in isolated rural regions of India, Sri Lanka, and especially skydiving dropzones...
  5. Yes, live in something other than a trailer. In case you need to ask, a tent is a move on the wrong direction. Damn! I thought my tent was prime! It even has a vent on top so nobody suffocates after a long night of beer drinking and mexican.
  6. Hey, I'm off to Florida for the next two weeks. I've been trying to decide where to jump. I'm a newb so if there are better DZs for newbs vs. more experience let me know. Also, I am interested in DZs with better night life where I can at a minimum pitch a tent. To give you an idea of what I am used to I jump at SkyDive Orange in VA. If you are not familiar they fly a Twotter and like to party. Any suggestions are appreciated!
  7. Yup. Cuz every female skydiver is looking for a guy who has to constantly show off the fact that he has some money. Nothing else matters. Well, okay, one other thing matters - how fast can he pack for me? Baby, this little monkey can pack, umm...cram, stuff, ram and pound a parachute into a D bag so fast and furiously you'll end up smoking a cigarette with your rigger!
  8. If we told you on a public forum than the ratio would change before you got here However since we're a skydiving brotherhood just for you. if you send me your SS# DOB and CC# I'll provide you wiith a list. R.i.P. HAHA, that's funny. I thought this post would get a better response. I think the above poster is right about this belonging in Bonfire...oops. It seems to me that dropzone real estate is an important component of male social display. The better the trailer, closer to the bathrooms, etc. the better your "social" opportunity. I'm a new monkey so I am still too low on the social scale to aquire a nice trailer with heat and air conditioning considering the limited space . I do, on the other hand, have a nice heated blanket for the couch. I have advertised this asset but it seems that somebody elses trailer is a much better option for the ladies . Any suggestions for a new monkey?
  9. With a clear imbalance of females to males what social structure has your dropzone adopted for after-hours activities? Here are a few examples to get us started, but please feel free to describe your DZ's unique situation: Lord of the Flys Feudal System Polyandrous One-Male-Several-Female Group - My personal favorite Mutimale-Multifemale Group Fission-Fussion Below is a clicky for descriptions of some of the above. http://anthro.palomar.edu/behavior/behave_2.htm
  10. Couldn't be said better. Being able to stand flat footed while straddling the bike is so extremely important. If you can't do that you are going to find yourself in deep sh** eventually. Also, does the course provide the practice bikes or is it her bike? Dropping the bike in class is a huge no no and can result in an instant flunk. Dropping your own bike can result in a flunk, no license, and a lot of expense.
  11. The one I think of that we always tried as kids but it never worked is to put their hand in warm water. It was supposed to make the passed out person pee their pants.
