I've never had any success trying to watch video from that site.

Sandy, pm me or PilotDave and we'll try and sort you out. For reference, I was unable to view the videos using Windows Media Player in the Windows 2008 server OS that I am using, but I did get them to play using VLC media player.

    2001> footage from first jumps:

If you'd kept at it, you might have made a reasonable pilot :P

I did my first jump in July 2001 on my 505th jump. Tim Porter trained and videoed me.

I wore Chris Gauge's S.U.I.T. which was a bit on the tight side. I shan't name the dropzone as it was a little cloudy :$ luckily my referencing of the sun and my flight plan was good.

I like this video because the flailing during the first half makes me laugh but I really like the moment where you can see it click and the flight goes all quiet and smooth.

I can still remember the opening on my original Sabre 190 :o

Oh, the video uses the Indeo 5.1 codec. Vista users will need to open a command prompt elevated to administrator and type "regsvr32.dll ir50_32.dll" as it's not registered by default for some reason.

Oh, the remote thing is kinda a bummer on this camera. You'll have to use the screen to slow motion and debrief for students. You probably don't want to try it for linearly editing/slow motion tandem videos, but hey someone figure out a neat method of doing it and prove me wrong. I do not see a IR window anywhere so assuming a remote will not work.

Sounds like a potential business opportunity for you Trunk! B|

Have had my cx 12 shut off on climbout as well. Maybe use one of those hand warmer pouches in the camera enclosure? Or will that just add to the condensation factor?

What most people are unaware of is that those hand warmers need oxygen to function and usually take anywhere from 15-20 mins to even warm up once activated on the ground. When taken to altitude, they generally just stop working. Everyone who was using them initially during the recent 4 month long high altitude testing we've been doing stopped using them because they just didn't do anything once at altitude.

The reusable sealed hand warmers with a disc inside that is snapped to activate (and the warmer is boiled to reset) don't use oxygen, although they don't last as long as the oxygen fueled ones.

  5. When you say everything out there supports AVCHD natively, you are talking about editing? How about playback? If a memory stick was plugged into a standard Vista installation say, would you be able to view the file?

Thanks for the correction on the origins of AVCHD.

If you need to share media, no worries. You can easily dub media from a mem stick to the internal Flash memory, or dub from the internal Flash memory out to a media stick. If Firewire has been your primary means of sharing video files, MSPD is now your transport medium for sharing video. From skateboarders to skydivers, this feature will be much loved, much appreciated, and much late in file-based recording systems.

Can the camera downgrade AVHCD to MPEG2 when dubbing to make it accessible to those without AVHCD capable software?

Sorry for misunderstanding re. the sweatshirt. I was confused when you asked me to put it on, but I figured I'd keep my mouth shut to avoid sounding like an idiot. Can someone explain why the sweatshirt goes on the outside? Isn't this a huge safety hazard? As I've said before I'm very safety conscious.

    Hey NippLBoy,

It's not a safety hazard so long as you take it off when it's time to deploy. But I know you are very safety conscious and need all the time to do your barrel roll and set up for your large rotation landing (although best to just keep it to a 360 on a big way) so maybe cut holes in the sweatshirt so that you can still get hold of your handles in an emergency. And maybe run some velcro up the back.

Remember, there are no stupid questions in skydiving. So next time, don't keep your mouth shut, and then all doubt will be removed.

    Hope that helps!

    ..something big according to them.

    300sqft Tandem Velocity.:P

I can vouch for the fact that this is NOT what will be released.

Yeah, 300 sq ft would be rediculously large! ;)

  9. Hi Andi(?), if you keep it more to the side of development and product announcement, rather than outrageous advertising, it's useful and informative to the community so we'll allow it.

  10. I wish! I live in England and it's winter :P I'm still Standard Def and tape based, so the nuances of HD and solid state have passed me by but I'm looking at catching up with the CX100/5. Thanks for filling me in (and Jarno). So, why the difference of 5 in the 100/5 but only 1 in 6/7 and 11/12? :S

    A VPL-CX100 projector or a HDR-CX105 camera?

The HDR-CX105 camera is called the HDR-CX100 in the U.S.

    Ah! :$

And what do you call the projector? :D

Seriously, is this a newer version of how they used to refer to PAL cameras with the 'e' suffix?
