  4. I'll Have to agree with ShortyJ-you got it BAAAAAAD! :P:ph34r: Join the club; this is the most addictive (and most fun) thing I have ever gotten involved in. Mind you, I'm a baby in this sport, just like you, but have already noticed great things outside of jumping in what we do, hang around the dropzone long enough and you'll see what I mean ;) Welcome to the sport! :)
P.S. I noticed you said AFP, and not AFF-did you by chance jump at Skydive Chicago?

IF ya DO speed dont whinge and moan:S:S

If i get one more speeding fine i lose my license for 3 months, I speed all the time, but i dont piss and moan about it. if you dont want a ticket dont break the law,.

Squeaky, you say that as if 35 mph (in your case, 60-70 kmh) on the street, and slightly over that on the expressway is "normal" :P I'd lose my mind if I obeyed the speed limit.

On top of that, most cops (at least here) let you go 10-15 over the limit. Sorry you got the ticket man, it was totally uncalled for

  7. I froze my bank account, credit cards (new ones are being sent out) and put a fraud alert on my credit file, which goes out to the 3 major credit bureau's; I'd like to think I did everything I could to protect myself from identity theft...?

  8. Ok.....the 1 piece of good news is, my credit card was in the glove box, and was still there after the break-in; he either wasn't interested or didn't notice it. I'm hoping it was just some crack-head that is too stupid to use that flash drive with the sensetive info on it that was in the bookbag that was stolen

  9. OMG!.......I just realized my usb flash card was in my bookbag and it has critical information on there; I keep documents on it that I don't want on the computer for security reasons. I don't think anything with my ss # was on there, but I'm not sure (I hope I'm just being paranoid) Jesus, I think I'm seriously going to have a heart attack!

  10. [rant]What a nice morning I've had; woke up to find the front passenger window busted; they got my radio, and my book bag with a camera and phone charger in it-they could of at least left the clean cloths I had left over from a trip. Good thing I took my GPS out of the car, although they still stole the windshield mount and charger, as if they could have use for it without the GPS itself. what are you gonna get for it, 5-10 bucks on the street? Damn... Its only material things but that's money I could have spent in other ways; bills, tunnel time, towards my AFF jumps, whatever. This really sucks! >:( The funny thing is I left my car at my buddies house when we went to Wisconsin for a few days; he lives in a worse neighborhood than I,; you would thing that if something like this was going to happen it would of happened there and not in front of my house.

within the last year and a half I've had an attempted carjacking, vandalism...and now this. I'm so tired of this crap! >:([:/] I'm thinking I had to be observed; I got home at 3:00 this morning, and by 5-6:00 am my neighbor said my car had already been broken into. I wish I could go jump, that always makes me feel better. It's times like this I wish I had my A already :|[/rant]

  11. Now 26 years old, I decided I should learn a 3rd language. I know fluent English and Polish, but it would be cool, and not to mention professionally beneficial to learn yet another language; preferably Spanish. Thing is, I have no idea where nor how to begin. Both English as well as Polish were spoken around me at a very young age, making it really easy to pick up; I didn't "learn" them, I just spoke, if that makes any sense. Now I think I'm too old to learn another foreign language. But it's said that it's never too late. Any ideas and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

Really? I was too angry to shit-muh-britches when that happened.

Some coked up douchebag was shooting at our car.
Hw was in a corvette and we were in a Kcar. he would race up past us and get out and shoot at us.

Lucky I wasn't the driver because I was yelling at the driver to ram him.

good thing he was a shitty shot and it was a .22, .also.
The car was full of holes (3 of them...does that qualify as full?)

Finally, I told the driver to turn down a dead end where there was a trail to get to the other side. I wanted to ambush the guy but they all ran away.

I stood by the trail ready to hit the guy with a pipe I found.....he never found us.
I guess its a good thing, but I would have beat him til he stopped moving.

    Holy shit dude......that's messed up

Glad, you're alive but technically you almost hit the truck as the truck has the right of way if you are merging.:P

    details details...:P:D

All bullshit aside, those types of on-ramps are not safe

  20. I just got home, and glad I did, because it almost didn't turn out that way. About 30 minutes ago, I'm getting on the expressway to get back home andb almost got smushed by an 18-wheeler while at the end of the on-ramp. It wasn't a "normal" on-ramp, in that it had a sharp turn from start to finish; usually, you still have some time to merge with traffic as your coming on the expressway, this one however ends right away. As I was coming on, the truck almost hit me on my side, going 70-80 mph. It didn't scare me too much (it did scare me though) but I, yet again see how fragile life can be...

So.....will a regular insurance company drop you if they find out you're a skydiver? This makes me a little concernicus, I never though of that before. Hmmm....

As an insurance agent I can honestly tell you, yes- insurance companies can (but not always do) drop you if you negate the fact that you skydive. one of 2-3 things can happen: they'll keep you, but not pay a skydive related injury; they can pay the claim and drop you, or raise your premium

Edited to add: Blue Cross Blue Shield are particularly picky sonsabitches

Some insurance companies won't pay for injuries as a result from skydiving.

Funny story though... My friend Mike broke his ankle in three places (yea, he knows he was a dumbass) from a landing. With the advice of others, he told the doctor he fell off a ladder. After treating him the doctor then made a comment that confused Mike and I. "I suggest you take up something safer... Like skydiving." As the doctor walked out the door, we noticed we both had on a skydiving shirt on... I don't think the doctor believed the story we gave him, but at least the insurance company paid for his injuries.
