  1. Yes. If for some reason your main doesn't get out of the container (e.g. hard pull on your pilot chute), even if you cut away you're going to have the weight of the main with you. Extra leeway in weight allowances is a good thing. Just as a bridge shouldn't be engineered to the minimum strength required, neither should skydiving gear. Wendy W. Now I understand, thank you very much. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  2. I think a PD253R would not be safe for you because its maximum allowed exit weight is 254 lbs ( http://www.performancedesigns.com/reserve.asp ). Your rig will be heavier because you need a bigger reserve, main, etc so you should add 30 or more pounds and your weight could increase ... I kind of disagree on the weight requirement, if I am under reserve canopy then I will not have the weight of the main canopy since I will have cut away from it. Or am I wrong on the weight issue? What about a total malfunction on your main? By total malfunction of the main, do you mean that the main is still with me, even though I cut-away? I am not trying to argue, I am just trying to understand. Remeber I am new so I might not be understanding things correctly. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

  7. Can someone explain to me what these are and what they look like. I called Bev Suits and all the lady there could tell me was they were on the legs and help to slow down descent. I would like to know what they look like and if they are needed. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  8. And thank you to everyone that has given me great info. If you are ever out at Lodi, CA, look me up and the first round is on me. I'll be the guy in the all green suit, just call me "Greenman" So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  9. Look at the Crater suit and in the description they talk about the computer designed jumpsuit, but they do not go into the technacalties (sp?) of it. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  10. I am 5'-10" and constantly losing weight, about 5 months ago I was 250. I would love to get to 200 but that won't be for awhile. Any help you can throw at me, please do, I am a good listener. Here are my plans for buying gear, first I will get my Cypres2, then my reserve "I am thinking of a PD253R" then my main "no ideas on that yet", then my container. I know for my container I am getting a M-Series Vector 3. My main objective in skydiving will be RW and freeflying, I have no immediate plans for swooping or CRW, so I am just looking for something that will be a little fun but more forgiving. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  11. Different signatures, but same movie, ccol. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  12. I myself weight 230 lbs., this is not an exit weight but my true weight, and had a few questions, what size and type of canopies do you fly, both main and reserve. Next week I will be off student status and want to try some different canopies but want to stay conservative. So I was wondering what people of my same size suggest. Also what type of suit if any do you wear, I have been looking at the Bev suits "Polycotton" which seems to be for jumpers of my stature. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. And just so everyone knows I am not looking to jump a smaller canopy, just want to get ideas of what I should be trying. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  13. I haven't had anything chasing me lately, so no running here. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  14. I was thinking that mught had made the straps move down, I will definetly try that next time. And luckily I think I only have 1 or 2 more static line jumps, then it is into freefalling. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  15. Thanks for all the advise, I think I will try the seat belt straps for the rest of my training, and then until I get my own container I will make some "strap on" pads for my leg straps. I said "strap on", kind of kinky, but that is just me.
  16. Sorry but I do not own any corduroy pants, I left those back in grade school. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep em tight and deal with it til I get my own. Plus I will look into that Vector 3 M-series. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  17. Are you being all you can be? Currently my instructor is Bill, the owner. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  18. I am doing my training right now and have a question, how do I keep from getting inner thigh bruising from the leg straps, my last jump was very painful. Do I tighten the straps hard or leave a little slack. Also will this go away once I am not using a student container and get my own? I am a bigger guy at 5'-10" 230 lbs. I know losing weight will help, which I am in the process of doing, so far I have lost close to 30 lbs. in 4 months. Any assistance would be greatll appreciated. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  19. What did you do on the last six jumps, on my 3rd and 4th jump I was unable to grab the ripcord due to the fact of being jerked by the static line, but they said nothing about doing any jumps over yet. So hopefully I won't have to redo those, but I know I will have to get it by my next jump. Also where are you, what place do you need to get out of? So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
  20. Well I did my first 4 static line jumps. It is definetly a cool feeling hanging off a wing strut at 4,000'. So far my canopy work has been great, I was over my spots at 1,000' and 500' with no problems, my landings were good in my opinion even though they weren't standing landings, I did a kind of butt slide. I know it would be better to land on my feet, but any landing I can walk away from is a good landing. My 2 main problems is vocalizing my moves and keeping my head up, but I am working on those. I plan on going back either Wednesday or Thursday to hopefully finish my training. Then it is off student status, I can not wait for my first solo jump, then I plan on jumping with other people to learn from them. So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
