  1. Agreed but once you jump it one or two times you find it's sweet spot! ... love my mouth switch! Keeps your tongue in shape Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  2. Good thoughts... thank you! Sorry for not being clearer- I tightened the screw sooo much that it was stuck slightly off fromt he position I needed it in (I have just been compensating). I have tried (along with others) to unscrew it and the screw is stripped trying to rotate it out this last time. So the 'L' wrench would tighten but it was stripped going to looser way. I was just fearful carrying the helmet around or packing it in a case with the sight bar still in place but from what you're saying it may prevent my current situation from happening again... Good thoughts either way! Thanks again Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  3. Hey hey hey! A couple of questions to those of you who are flying with the Schumacher Bracket set up for your ring sight... 1- I have stripped the screw that tightens the ring sight in place more times than I can count and even replaced the swivel part too thinking I damaged the inside housing... Has anyone else done this? 2- When I do tighten it (to what I think it won't move) the ring sight still moves (not side to side but back and forth). Normal or not? If not, what should I do differently? 3- I have been taking it off and putting it on a bunch to travel so it doesn't get damaged so I am sure that is were the wear on the screw is coming from etc.. What do others do when traveling to different DZ's? 4- You know how the ring sight flips up... Well once it was real tight when I first bought it nd stayed nicely in place but now I have more jumps on it -it's looser (i.e. it doesn't click tightly into place) so sometimes under canopy it pops back down... can anything else be tightened in this system? I have attached photos of my helmet and of the swivel peice I am talking about. Any insight is appreciated! Thanks in advance :-) Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  4. Happy Friday!!! ...I just can't stay away! Just booked my flight back down to you guys for the weekend of September 12th-14th whoohoo!! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  5. Happy Hump Day!! Is anyone heading down to NZ for the Good Vibes Boogie at Skydive Abel Tasman? Or is anyone skydiving in the North/South Island between 8-22 and 9-2? Love to hear from you if so! If not, have an amazing week! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  6. Hey hey hey! Happy Monday folks! A big thanks to those of you who were at The Farm this weekend- you guys made the weekend fabulous and kept that plane turning- thanks!! Wow you guys really have an awesome DZ... consideration for a permenant move to there is increasing! I kind of have a photo of those sweet swoop shirts... Behind Mr. Bones is Hans/Ian in the background of the photo with one on Thanks again for a perfect weekend!! Good luck at Nationals at Mile-HI boys! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  7. Sweet thoughts! On the 'to do' this week... Thanks much! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  8. Thanks Foster good idea. Not really looking to trade out helmets at this point gentlemen- but thanks! Attached is a photo of the flash (keep in mind though it is at 90 degrees when I would have it straight out_... I think the only way is to side mount it like he said... Maybe drilling 2 spots for 2 bungees plus gaffers tape? Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  9. Sweet!! Thanks for the post, info, and reassurance !! Flying there this weekend for some fun Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  10. Hey there!! Curious if anyone has any experience in mounting an external flash to the Optik Illusion? Photo attached of my current setup (I will not be flying video so what you see is the space I have to work with). I have a SC-28 cord an SB800 ready to go just need some ideas on how to safely put everything on and still allow the D200 to sit pretty.
  11. The famous Blue Sky Ranch... I flew in from MI into Newburgh (easy 1/2 hour drive Memorial Day weekend) to work with Sonic and Laszlo for my camera set up. I am a professional Nikon wedding photographer and decided it made sense for me to be a Nikon flyer as well. As most of you know the mouth/bite/blow switched are not compatible with Nikon's out of the box... so Laz spent the time creating one to fit my D200 and D70 and it worked beautifully! Sonic spent most of the day fitting me for my helmet, drilling holes, and making sure my ringsight was perfect. Lots of TLC from him and Donna- thank you both!! They even went as far as guiding me on the progression between parts/jumps to safely get that camera/ringsight flying. There help was more than appreciated!! What I did not appreciate was manifest. I have my C license (C-36575 and ~250 jumps)and was told because I did not have 15 jumps signed in my log book so they had to call the last 2 places I jumps to verify before I could get on a load. Time consuming and over protective for a C license holder!! Freaking awesome facilities... nice bathrooms, lockers, camping, nice landing stretch (nice unless the winds are north/south), lots of packing room, throrough explanations from folks on the ground and in the plane to where the DZ was, landing, outs, etc. I landed just off the DZ on a 182 load at 'Farmer McNasty's' and not only did someone walk back to make sure I was fine but someone then picked me up on the road out. Lots of fabulous people to freefly with and a very open DZ when it comes to fun, events, and the after fun ;-) Loved my 48 hours here!! Would go back as quick as I could!!
  12. Hey there!! Curious if anyone is planning on heading out to Skydive Abel Tasman for this boogie (August 16-24th)? If so, are you sticking around to jump after the boogie or at some of the tandem factories around in the south island? I fly in at the end of boogie and will be working my way down the south island coasts until early September... Savor the rest of this beautiful week!! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  13. Whoo hoo!!! We're only 2 weeks away!!!! I'll be there Thursday and Sunday!! I simply cannot wait! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  14. Indeed!! Thank you -thank you!! We are in contact :-) Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  15. Thanks for the info darlin! On my D200 I am going to shoot mainly with the 16mm Fisheye 2.8D and then I also have a bulker wide angle to fly the Nikon 12-24mm 1.4... Beautiful lenses needless to say! I got in touch with Lazlo so all is well- thanks for the help folks! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  16. The D70s had a 2.5 plug in for the bit switch?! Anyone have his contact info? I did some searching and couldn't find his SN. I'd love to contact him for sure! I don't have to go with the Invertago mount... I am just after a helmet that is safe for me and my camera on top... Less danger for me at deployment is key. So if you know of a better set up for just the still camera please do let me know??? I appreciate the advise... as the camera flyers at my DZ are few and far between these days... Thank again! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  17. Happy Almost Friday All!! Curious if anyone makes or has a modified bite switch for Nikon? I have read all of the modification ideas Conceptus has on the website (and they do not do custom mods) and I am just not confident I will be able to do it correctly without damaging the $75 switch. IT does not fit the 2.5 current adapter nor am I interested in flying with the $200 Digi2200 bulky adapter to make this work for me. Please let me know if you (or know anyone) can help me in this effort. PS- I am looking to fly with a D70 or D200 (first preference). Thanks in advance! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  18. Thanks for the feedback folks... No offense to the Canon flyers... but since I have all the gear for Nikon I'd like to get it in the air. I am a professional photographer on the ground... so I understand the dynamics on cropping, lighting, exposures etc. I just need the extra help/push for a safe set up. I was at Skydive Suffolk this weekend and had a flyer take my camera up.. he hand took the photos as his bite switch didn't plug into my D200 I had on hand :-( If someone knows how to rig up the bite switch to a Nikon properly please please let me know as I would be willing to pay you to do the adjustments (as I have no electronic knowledge). Please let me know if you have the 'know how.' Thanks a bunch!! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  19. Good Morning!! Whoohoo for it almost being the weekend!! I have a couple of questions to ask of you knowledgeable folks... First, I am considering the Nvertigo-X Freefly Camera Helmet for still camera flying on top. Curious if this is a cool move? I am not interested in video flying at this time just looking for sweet shots to take so I don't need anything super bulky... Oh oh and is there any problem with not having a chinstrap? Next step after I get the helmet is the bracket right? What other elements are good to have (besides a bite switch)? Lastly, for those of you who fly with Nikon camera now... what are you using? I have a D70/ 200/ 300 at my disposal along with a beautiful wide angle. Any thought are more than appreciated!! Thanks a bunch! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  20. Thanks folks for your ideas, help, and advice as it is all totally appreciated!! I figured something out that looks like it should work with my S&TA... If that doesn't pan out, it looks like Skydive Houston is organizing something at that end of this month (26th) as a last ditch effort. Thanks again all! Happy Hump Day!! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  21. Happy Tuesday!!! Curious if any DZ is going to or can hold water training on April 25-27th for the B license requirement? Or I will be at Skydive Suffolk May2-4th and would be willing to fly/drive to a DZ then as well. I need to get my B/C license ASAP and need the training... I am willing to fly from Michigan to anywhere... just let me know if you have any details Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  22. Good idea... Thanks! Looking for any additional thoughts on DZ and area to stay in that people have had good experiences with thus far... Thanks in advance! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  23. Happy Tuesday All!! I am looking to plan a trip to New Zealand since it is a Mecca of adventure this year from December 23rd thru January 4th. Curious if anyone has had experiences with doing an adventure driven trip there? I.E I am looking for details the following things: -A City to fly into that has easy access to the following stuff: a.) Skydive (of course- I hear Queenstown is a tandem factory but offers up amazing views. b.) Canyoning c.) Bungee Jump d.) Mountain bike, hiking, snorkel, or base jump with my skydiving rig (something taller than 1,000 ft) Anyone have any thoughts or done a similar trip that can offer up some advice? Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  24. Thanks for the info folks... I just called Skydive Whistler and they actually are not opening until mid July... Thanks for the help though- I'll probably try Pitt Meadows. Have a great week! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
  25. Hey there!!! Happy Monday!! I am heading to Whistler this weekend to do some glacier skiing, bungee jumping, and zip lining. So I'm curious if the closest DZ to that area is Skydive Vancouver? Does anyone jump there on a weekly basis and will be there this coming Sunday June 17th? Is the DZ worth the drive from Whistler? Any input would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance! Smile! http://www.399FirstDates.com
