  1. I don't post here often, but thought I would share a pic or two of my new rig. Rig is a Javelin J-4. Main: Sabre2 190 Reserve: PD176 R Skyhook, Cut-in laterals, fully-articulated, 3-d spacer foam, etc. It's very, very comfortable. Many thanks go out to Sunshine here on DZ.com for helping with packing the reserve! She rocks
  2. The feel of the air when you first leave the plane makes you feel more free than anything I've ever experienced. Its like standing up in the back of a pickup truck, arms outstretched, while its speeding through a tunnel. I feel infinite. -Auram p.s. Cookie if anyone knows the reference in the last two sentencesQuote
  3. I second what brianfry said. right shift it 8 bits
  4. Not sure if they are hiring, but Skydive Chicago (www.skydivechicago.com) runs through November in Illinois, then goes to Mexico until late february I believe. Maybe check them out :)
  5. I just got all of my components together for my first rig. All in all....probably about 2200 for everything I needed. I got a great deal on a main canopy, reserve and container though.
  6. Sorry to hear about the cutaway but it sounds like you did the right thing!
  7. Not sure it's brilliant. but had someone do the same to me. When I suggested using an Escrow site, they sent me to some escrow website that had been created 3 days before their auction yet had tons of "testimonials" every part of that website was lifted from elsewhere on the net. walk away

    Skydive Chicago

I just graduated the AFP program from Skydive Chicago last month, and have to say the place rocks. Learning to jump from Rook, Dave C. and Frank there was amazing. I'm hoping to make it up for part of friday...sucks when you have a new job and don't want to ask for a week off! Blue skies
  9. I jump at Skydive Chicago Seatbelts usually start coming off at 1k or just above, door opens around there or just after. Helmets are generally on during takeoff with only a few that I've seen in my limited number of jumps that don't put them on. Others generally say something to the non-helmet wearers though and they are secured or most often put on. Side-question: Pilot at 1200' says "emergency, everyone out!". If you are jumping a Twin Otter with full load (23 or 24 people I think), what would the procedure be after exit? You wouldn't have much time to do anything other than pull right out the door right? Wouldn't that be pretty dangerous too?
  10. Hi all, I'm a newer jumper recently out of the AFP program at my dropzone (Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, IL). Right now they are hosting Summerfest at the DZ through sunday, and there are a few gear vendors there including Freak N' Suits and Tony Suits. I might have a small window of time only on friday that I could head to the dropzone to check them out. I'm looking to get an RW suit soon and wondered if I would find decent discounts from vendors (in general) at a boogie. Is it worth driving 3 hours roundtrip to meet with them in person? Any thoughts, please let me know! Thanks!
