  1. I am new to the sport myself but common sense has told me that if I want to continue to do this it is not going to be cheap. One thing the originator of this thread is not realizing is that the money you spend to do this is a choice. If you choose to spend the money, then you have it to spend. Some of us, myself included, may not have the money at times but will do it anyway. Skydiving is a want to do issue, not a must do. I know it sounds ludicrous for me to say that but we all know you choose to gear up and get in that plane. So for the originator this is my advice to you; find a new sport to partake in. As for those of you at Frontier, after seeing the photos of your facility and your staff I may just have to come visit after I get my A license.
  2. Dave, when I get my license I will be looking for you. I see that you have already been to almost all the DZs in TX so I know you would be a good one to look up when I am ready to do it. But what about the DZ in Beaumont?
  3. Thanks. The idea of doing ti all at one DZ makes sense I guess I am just anxious to jump everywhere I can. Will probably do it at the DZ I did my first tandem at.
  4. Thanks for the info. I will be at the Convention Center for work, but then I am taking a couple of days for myself. I plan on jumping out there, but do not kow that I want to do an AFF course there. I figure I should be close to my license and will try and do all of the courses at the DZ I did my first tandem at. So while I am out in San Diego I think I may just do a tandem and see about learning some new things or practicing what I learn prior to going. Thanks for the advice.
  5. There is a good probability that I will be in San Diego in October. If so I plan to try and jump while there, i am sure the view has got to better than out here in TX. What DZs are close to San Diego? Are there any suggested spots to go jump out there? Being that I should be doing my student jumps at that time would it be okay to just tandem out there? I don't think a tandem jump would kill me. Any suggestions??
  6. Well, I appreciate all the info that has come my way. I was kind of thinking the training would be best done in one spot. I guess the DZ i did my tandem at is the DZ I will do the training at as well. Please keep all the info coming, it is greatly appreciated.
  7. I know I have seen many say to do all the training to get your license at one place. Is this the best method for the sole reason your instructors can better help you to correct mistakes because they witness it? I have located many DZs in TX and want to jump at each one by the time I am done. Should I just wait until I have the certification to go to another DZ? Too many chices to make. Also I will be going to San Diego in October if all goes right with work. Are there any DZs in the San Diego area that somone recommends? Thank you all for the help you have given me so far.
  8. come on now brittany i am sure he is no worse than i am. lol
  9. From a Marine to a Soldier, Thank You for everything you are doing over there. Keep safe, and take care. Semper Fi! Look me up when you get back to TX
  10. Thanks. Looking forward to many years more of jumping out or off of whatever I get the chance to jump from.
  11. Thanks. I will look for you next time. We should all be going again sometime in the not too distant future. I am also looking at organizing a group to go out there.
  12. It was a tandem jump. I dont know how other states do it but in Texas you have to, as far as I know, tandem twice then you can start the Student classes. I am looking forward to my second jump and know it may not be too far away. Thanks for the welcome.
  13. Thanks. That is good info to have. I kind of figured I may want to wait to buy, but I just have to cover all bases before I do. The jump yesterday was an impulse thing, and I feel that it is going to become a pricy hobby.
  14. I just did my first jump yesterday. It was an awesome experience and cannot wait to go again. I have posted in the gear and rigging forum for some feedback, if anyone who reads this can help me out there it is greatly appriciated. Here is to many many more safe jumps for all.
