  1. I'd be happy to. Manufactures sell you car covers, riggers make them legal.
  2. 8015b provides no qualification tests with an rsl disconnected and unconstained. master riggerQuote
  3. The RSL AKA: Stevens cutaway system, was invented by Perry Stevens in the early 60,s. Mr. Stevens consulted with the FAA regarding their approval for his system. Because the system does not interfere with operation nor does it alter airworthiness The FAA advised approval was not necessary. It falls under the "extra equipment category". AS 8015 b provides 4 tests with the RSL actuating the reserve pack "if the RSL is provided as a part of the assembly. All systems in common use today provide for user defeat at any time. AS 8015b provides no qualification tests with an RSL disconnected and unconstrained. Master Rigger
  4. I found a nicely cut 3x5" hole with 45'ed corners in a packed reserve once. No patch and no stitching. There was a prominent manufacturer many years ago that would ship out packed rigs with safety-pins inside the canopy. They were hard to detect unless you went looking inside the canopy. This company often left long tails of E-tread as well. A few turns of thread around the lines is enough to streamer a canopy. We still have the problem of brass grommets and rubber bands on rigs. There is a chemical reaction between brass and rubber that causes rubber to dissolve { Poynter } I phoned a compay a while back about this and was informed their brass grommets were plated, " I love that one !"
  5. I pulled that from Poynter's , I don't see any info as to which test was done.
  6. The hard part was getting the singer off the other end.
  7. I've often wondered how your mesh covered pilot chute was stuck to that pointy-nosed man on your patent. Fish hooks, what a gerat idea ! A 66 year record of untold thousands of lives saved by John Quilters pilotchute design and widespread use worldwide as we speak, I find awe inspiring. WE have managed to make his design more snag resistant and less costly to produce. But along with changes come new problems.
  8. nylon mil-c-266643 is listed as 1500/1800 cfm per sq ft of cloth
  9. They do In fact John Sherman reported this way back in 96 {Jump Shack Web site FAQ] I think someone else was drop testing back then. The Sky-hook is one answer to this. A plain old MA-1 will out perform many of our newer models. One thing to consider is where an un-inflated pilot chute is relative to deploying canopy"via bridle" in a low speed sequence.
  10. My wife thinks I'm a troll also , says I spend too much time in my sewing cave {when I'm not out drop-testing.] But I have mastered the art of getting cypres cord through those insane washers. Inverted means 'upside down' If an object has a heavy end it tends to fall towards the heavy end. Add a tail as in kite tail or long bridle and you have stable inverted flight.
  11. I would like to hear from other riggers their opinions about the wings reserve pilot chute. Has anyone reported this going inverted on RSL deployments or cutaways at sub terminal?
  12. Looking for the specs for the Tempo 150, specifially maximum exit weight and deployment airspeed Thanks for any help.
