  1. Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated!!
  2. Can someone help me understand these results? I injured my knee on a terrible harsh opening and have been nursing it for the last 6 weeks. I couldn't wait for our health system to get an MRI so i went out and got one myself. I have the written report but my doctor is out of town for 2 weeks so i thought maybe someone qaulified could help me understand what they are saying and let me know how bad it is. The results are listed as: 1. Bucket handle tear medial meniscus and displacement fragment in the intercondylar notch. 2.Focal chondral defect posterior non-weight bearing surface lateral femoral condyle with edema like signal changes in the adjacent bone marrow. 3.Joint effusion with possible mild synovitis. 4.Small ganglion cyst at the adductor tubercle. I value all opinions but am really looking for a radiologist or doctor to comment on how serious this injury is. Thank you all very much for your time in this!! Bless all, blue skies. Dallycat
  3. I had a rough opening two weeks ago and ended up having the exact thing happen that you are mentioning. I couldn't support myself with that leg, it was that bad. I sat out for a few hours and tried to put weight on it again and while rotating it a bit i heard a pop noise and then mysteriously i could walk just fine. So in my infinate wisdom i went for another jump and in manouvering in the plane to exit i put my knee out again. Needless to say landing was a painful event. I took a week off and iced and elevated it, which didn't take down the swelling so i went to the doc. X-Rays said no damage so i have a MRI booked for next week. I can walk on it now but it feels "loose" and once in a while i feel a lose of range and pain. I have everyone telling me it is the meniscus and there is probably a tear in it. Sorry for the long story but your problem sounds quite the same as mine so after i get my MRI and am $800.00CAD more in debt i will post the findings to maybe help you out more. By the way i started with my general MD and he refered me to a specialist. I don't know you but i share your pain.. Take care, talk soon. Dallycat
  4. 6400 miles - Edmonton, Alberta to Nadi, Fiji. And only for one a weeks vacation.
  5. Quote I have definately taken her advice into consideration! I'm here to learn and would like to be around long enough to have some fun
  6. Have you jumped a 176 anything yet? Have you jumped a seven cell F111 anything yet? Do you think you are capable of walking away from landing that canopy in less than perfect conditions (ie at sunset, into someone's backyard, downwind, crosswind, etc) after chopping your main on your next skydive? People who sell new jumpers reserves they'll load at 1.2 do NOT have the new jumpers best interests in mind. Thanks for your comments! I won't be jumping this rig for at least 100 jumps, just wanted it for when I was ready. Valid comments regarding landing in tight areas under less than idea conditions. Will take that into consideration. No need to roast me though but your comments are appreciated. I will be questioning the reserve choice. Thanks.
  7. I wasn't planning on jumping this rig right away to be honest, just thought I would get it rolling so it was ready when I needed it. Am planning on travelling to Eloy in March to complete AFF, and was planning on having approx. 100 jumps prior to jumping the mirage. Have put some thought into seeing if I can change the 176r up to the 193r. Thanks for the constructive comments. Caveat #1: I don't know you, your skill level, or your plans. Caveat #2: I'm not an instructor, coach, or expert of any kind. I gather from your profile that you are about 215 lbs going out the door. So, just a little lighter than my exit weight. I jump a Spectre 210, started by demoing a 230 in my own G4 at about 50 jumps, put 15 on the 230 then loaded the 210 in the rig. Worked out alright, and after about 100 jumps on the 210 I was comfortable with it. I did a lot of canopy practice - I should have taken a canopy course. You might mention if you sized your container to downsize your main to something around a 170??? As you're downsizing keep in mind that you can demo PD reserves (as mains) too. When you and your trusted instructors agree that you are ready you might consider demoing down reserve sizes to target preparation to land your reserve. Recommendation #1: If you are in Red Deer you might want to consider coming down to Sunny Florida and training.
  8. I have purchased it, ward at mirage is rigging it up right now (delivery middle of Jan). I have it coming with no main. You mentioned the reserve choice? Can you expand on that for me please? Thanks!
  9. Advertising removed by slotperfect I am new to the sport but have done a lot of homework on equipment and I think a Pilot is the type of canopy that suits me right now. If anyone can offer some input on the Pilot (Pilot 210 - ed. by slotperfect) I would greatly appreciate it. Cheers!
  10. Hello from a newby! Nice rig.. I just ordered a Mirage G4 and the delivery should be mid January and I am going insane waiting. I'm sure you know that feeling! Have fun with the new equipment!! Blue Skies!
  11. Hi Skymama, I hear ya, everyone went to tunnel camp in Florida and just got back.. I would have done my AFF down there but my budget needs re-fueling as my equipment is en-route. I will for sure be down there next year this time. Thanks for the reply!
  12. I did my "1st" jump in 95, when I completed 4 jumps. Left the sport until a tandem jump in Hawaii this Oct. and came back to freezing temps. to do some more jumps in frosty Alberta. I couldn't finish my PFF course due to winter (very un-happy about it) and count the days til spring. I have already ordered a Mirage G4, Pd reserve and a cypres2 which Mirage is rigging up for me as we speak, I get it in mid January and I'm sure I will probably wear it everyday til spring. LOL! I just need to find a used Pilot 210. Any help here? I have bored the s#@! out of everyone with my tandem video and tried to recrute everyone at work to jump.... Pathetic hey? Just wanted to say hi!
