  1. Darn good fights! :)
I'm obviously bummed that Bonnar lost, but Jon Jones looked fantastic...especially being only 21 years old. I'll be a Bonnar fan until the end, and I'm still hoping that that is quite awhile from now. I get goosebumps whenever I see the Baba O'Reilly clip with the famous Griffin/Bonnar TUF finale fight.... Jones, though, wow. He threw Bonnar around like a ragdoll and just picked him apart. I think he could've ended the fight if he would've capitalized on the elbow that stunned/dropped Bonnar.

I've always liked Lyoto and thought he's been overdue for a title shot; it seems that he may finally get that chance, and I really really really want to watch him beat down Rashad. Bonnar talked about fighting Lyoto and said that it was the most frustrating opponent he's ever had. I kinda like his style...especially if it'll shut Rashad up!

I loved loved loved the Guida/Diaz fight. My prediction was that Diaz would've won by sumbission, and I was oh so wrong. I like both of those guys, and they made for a great fight! (By the way, I missed out on stalking Guida since I couldn't see his face through his hair...seriously.)

GSP is a machine. BJ Penn still amazed me, though, with his freakish flexibility and getting GSP in his guard in the first round/two-ish.

That's why I was asking. I think it'd be funny. That's something I could do to my bossish people and not get fired for... :D

    Hell yes.

I would however, likely get written up for it. Our admin has no sense of humor. It sucks.

If my boss's boss didn't fire me for asking whose mother he wants to do most, I don't think I'll get fired for this.

Personally, I think they really do care for each other, and it's become an office discussion.

  3. This year I've decided to give both of my managers Valentine's Day cards from each other. I want them to know how much they care about each other.

Are you really going to Bucktown Ohio for your party or is that just an existing ad?

It is an existing ad, and it's for Bucktown in Chicago. (There was a period after "Bucktown," and they used "Oh," as an experession :)
Bytch, I'm sure I could find plenty of drunken clowns at the dz, so you might be on to something! (Except that during my birthday, the dzs here are much too cold to visit.)

  5. I still have several months before I turn 30, but it's never too early to start planning the most kick-ass awesomest party ever, right? My bff who turns 30 a few days afer me is even thinking of coming up for it to make it DOUBLY awesome. I've been picking up ideas and trying to plan something great, and I just wanted everyone's opinion on this: http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/chi/814181712.html

Do you guys think that an addition like that to my party would make it fantastic?

  6. There isn't one single shred of evidence to show that it exists. The paranormal-hype really shows that we have a lack of education when it comes to logic and critical thinking. Many people use the full spectrum of logical fallacies when defending the paranormal (tautology, moving goalpost, special pleading, tu quoque). Of course, somebody may be right even when using logical fallacies, but when evidence is scarce and logical fallacies are used to defend certain beliefs, it's highly unlikely that it's true.

You're right, there are some who don't believe in God who manage in 12-step programs. They are, however, the minority.

(Sorry for detracting from the purpose of this thread) The success rate of AA may actually be about the same as the success rate with stopping on your own, therefore it cannot be touted as the end-all be-all for recovery. The odds are stacked against addicts as it is, so I would expect that a minority (non-believers) in a minority (AA success stories) to be very small.

So my question to you is, how does genuine change happen?

By wanting it enough to practice everyday at changing habits. If weight loss is the goal, then a person has to eat right and exercise everyday, which can be difficult to do if the routine for the past several years is to grab a donut on the way to work and watch tv all night. If a person wants to change a character trait, similarly, they have to practice not being a jerk everyday until that habit is broken. It can be a struggle, and it does involve work, but when someone wants to change just for themselves, it's not that hard.

Evans-Jackson makes sense. Griffen-silva makes sense too but they are in the same camp so that will never happen. I'm curious who Forrest will fight next.

It depends on who Dana white thinks will make the biggest draw.

My guess is someone relatively younger/new so that Forrest has an easy win. It seems that's what they do 75% of the time someone loses the title.

I hate that I was right about this one.[:/] It may not have gone exactly as I thought but Forrest still lost. I think he'll end up fading away now.

I'm disappointed you were right about that one, too. [:/] Even during a title fight, Rashad shows little class and still looks like a tool. Who do you think is next for him? Rampage? Machida?

Other than being disappointed that Forrest lost, the fights were great! I'm excited because we're thinking of heading to the fights in Columbus & the Arnold Classic...I will be in prime stalking mode!

No re-direction needed. I certainly did not post this as fact, but to discuss the underlying truths of how dumb atheists are.B|

I know! I barely passed the second grade. This whole not believing in god thing makes my brain hurt too much to use it for much else!

  12. According to Randy on Inside MMA, it's never going to happen. I'm not overly upset by it. It would be taking money out of other fighters' pockets. Some of the best fighters don't make that much money per fight, so I would rather see them make some more money than blowing a huge chunk of change on one fight.

Why do people not want gay marriage and say it will lead to other things.....because it is a fight to breakdown and destroy religion....it is a fight to remove the ideas of right and wrong.....

    Three letters for you: WTF?

#1 This thread was started as a joke. Some did not get that. Some got it but didn't think it was funny. Some found the humor in it. The rest are setting up their doggies in arranged marriages to partake in the next big Canine Wedding.

#2 If people getting married is the breakdown of religion and morality, then neither one of those must be all that strong to begin with. Well, unless those people getting married show up with ammo and declare a war. To my knowledge, that has never happened here.

    Quote

but they want the religious instituation of marriage.

#3 I am a straight Atheist. I have the right to get married. If I ever get married, it will be in a courthouse or in a Vegas hotel (or drive through!) It was already said, but marriage is NOT a religious institution.

The point being is that it is a choice one makes and that decision is made as a result of psychological influences.

#4 People still believe that crap? I'm floored!

#5 For those that are unclear of my stance, I am all for gay marriage. I just happened to see that they had a dog wedding in the Chicago area, and I laughed and was reminded of all the "if you let gays marry, people will end up marrying multiple people and animals" argument.

  14. The religious right has been saying it for years: if you let gay couples get married, it just leads to polygamy and animal marriages.

I've been a supporter of letting people choose whomever they wish to marry, and my thoughts reflect the very blue surroundings I live in. Oak Park is known for being very liberal with their Obama signs, higher taxes and programs for its very lazy citizens (I mean, has anyone seen me even leave the house today?)

It seems the fears of the religious folks of what gay marriages lead to have finally been realized: http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=6495966

A town supporting gay marriages is now full of animal weddings, just as predicted. I guess we can't say that we hadn't been warned.

  15. I did vote. It took about 35 minutes, but at least they had a very sexy man checking us in, so the time passed a little more quickly.

  16. You should at lest go and sign in. That way, your vote actually "counts" since you then show that you are voting for no one.

And by the way, I understand about not even wanting to vote third-party/independent. I don't know how my state managed to rack up some of the biggest nutcases to run for the other parties.

..........Brock Lesnar is fighting for the title after only 3 MMA fights.

And not even 3 MMA wins! Obviously, Dana wants to make tons of money, and this fight will do just that. I can't say that I wouldn't do the same if I was in his position. It is, however, especially a shame when guys like Lyoto haven't had a title shot yet. I guess he's not pretty enough or loud enough. (In defense of Dana, at least he's not just welcoming Kimbo into the UFC despite his popularity....although he should welcome Seth back for justifying that decision to everyone else :D)

I think Randy is going to finish the fight late in the 4th by way of TKO.

I'll one up you and say the third round...just to be different :P

To much emphasis is put on physical/sexual gratification. If we would put as much emphasis on Spiritual development, life would be a lot less complicated.

So would your life be less complicated, and more fulfilling, if you had kissed but one woman in your entire life?

I think anything can be less complicated and more fulfilling if you are doing it for yourself, whether it is purity or sleeping around. When you start making life decisions based on other people's expectations of you, that's when it gets messy.

"How cool would it be to say, 'I've kissed but one man in my life'?"

About as cool as it is to wash the bathroom floor. Unfortunately for this man, saying that it's cool doesn't actually make it cool. With the continued mindset that the opposite of purity is slutty for women, realistic and safe approaches are missed entirely.

  20. Before the fight when Franca was running around the ring, he (intentionally, I think) ran right into Aurelio.

I didn't hear the ref (obviously), but he was just representing the bitch douche bags well, apparently! :D A guy sitting close to me kept shouting "Do something," the entire time. I shouted, "Leave if you don't like it," at him once.

    I heart Joe Rogan!
