So, first you spend about 4 years telling everybody that Tesla will never pan out...then, in December 2023 you said: "I was wrong about Tesla, full stop" so I guess you were at least acknowledging their successes.

Now, you're back holding up Tesla's decline and claiming you'd called it all along.  Make up your mind man...for those of us playing the home game, it's hard to keep up!

A reasonable person could make the argument that Tesla's latest decline has less to do the EV's in general and more to do with Musk's going 'full red pill', combined with many more EV options are coming onto the market...maybe if I had an MBA I'd see it differently though.

Whoa! Did Mike Johnson suddenly find his spine, and realize he is Speaker of the entire House???

Seems he chose the his personal 'least-bad path' which coincidentally aligns with the moral path this time. I assume he's betting that there are enough grown-ups in the room that realize how bad it'll look on the GOP if there's another 2-month plus fight for speakership.

That number has declined as the signal for anthropological climate change has failed to materialize, the growing number of skeptics even includes a recent Nobel prize winner.

Check out my Climate Change the Movie post, lots of scientists, lots of data.

BTW science is not done by consensus. If it were the Earth would still be at the center of the universe and white people would still be considered superior.

It's the consensus amongst climate scientists, not Internet trolls.  Therein lies the material difference

Did they give you any trouser trout?

How about for a second you resist your impulse to take cheap shots at them for being trans sex workers, and process the larger message of the story: climate change is going to have the biggest affect on those with the fewest resources.

I can grumble that insurance raised our deductible for a roof replacement due to local hail damage, or comment on the road I rode the school bus on every day as a kid has washed out 3 times in the past year due to storms larger than anybody in the area ever remembers seeing...shit that inconveniences or concerns me, but doesn't do much more right now.

People who have zero financial buffer and are living in particularly affected areas are going to be hit the hardest.  That's going to include Thai trans sex workers and many others living hand to mouth.

You could show a bit of empathy, or at minimum keep your mouth shut and count your blessings for having the sheer dumb luck of being born a white dude in North America....or, you could have a chuckle 'cause they wear dresses but were born with penises.

Well, you guys all did better than I did with recording it... But it was still cool.

Our office was in the path of totality..big boss catered BBQ and we all went out and watched it together.  Was a great show, but I'm in the same boat for lack of photos.  I figured there'll be literally millions of pictures, many of them taken by better photographers than me.  I'd prefer to watch it with my eyes rather than through my phone.

Trump is awful, but I find it hard to believe Biden is the best alternative.

The reality is that based on where we’re at today, Biden is the only alternative. Maybe in 7 months, we’ll look at President Elect Trump and wish that there had of been another option, but at this stage in the game, Biden’s our horse.

No doubt that Trump is a threat, but I wouldn’t write Biden off as nothing more than the lesser of evils. He’s done some good thinks like the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPs act, student debt….that are materially improving lives for lots of people. It’s hard to imagine that the trend wouldn’t continue if he gets another 4 years.

To be fair, they really think that being gay or trans or Mexican is a choice you made after being exposed to woke librarians.

As the husband of a Texan librarian, I can say you're closer to the truth here than any of us would like.

Anybody who has ever had to get a security clearance knows that large debts are a disqualifier. Having a president who is known to only care about his wealth needing a lot of money should be seen as a large national security risk.

This is one of the many reasons why he shouldn’t be President, but there’s no shortage of people who don’t give a shit. I ditched FB a while ago, but there’s no shortage of LinkedIn posts from my oil and gas contacts who are full-on mainlining the KoolAid.

“Used electric vehicles are depreciating 10 times faster than their gas-powered counterparts, according to a new study from iSeeCars.com. The average price of a used electric vehicle plummeted 31.8% over the last 12 months, compared with a 3.6% decline overall.”

Not only are EVs worthless they are also worth less.

Whatever you gotta keep telling yourself there Skippy.  You already sell off all your heavy vehicles now that you're aware of their environmental impact?

Well at least the election will be fraud free.  The RNC has hired election denier Christina Bobb as its Election Integrity lawyer.

I've got a lot of concerns about Trump pulling off a win in November....first and foremost is the concern that there's a sizable chunk of the population that's stoked about the prospect of giving that maniac another 4 years.  The fact that Trump's MAGA-fying the RNC, installing the craziest of the crazies to run the show and almost certainly planning to use it as a piggy-bank for legal fees all work to providing a glimmer of hope.

“According to data from Emissions Analytics, EVs tend to shed around 20 percent more from their tires due to their higher weight and high torque compared to traditional internal combustion engine-powered vehicles.”

“According to a recent report issued by researchers at Imperial College London, “There is emerging evidence that tyre wear particles and other particulate matter may contribute to a range of negative health impacts including heart, lung, developmental, reproductive, and cancer outcomes.”

What are you doing posting here?!?!? You should be running out to sell your wife's SUV and buy a Civic, now that you're aware of the dangers of heavy vehicles!

“The Journal was highlighting a study from 2022 that, naturally, was ignored by the mainstream press at the time. What the study found was that “brakes and tires on EVs release 1,850 times more particle pollution compared to modern tailpipes.”

Why? Because EVs are as much as 30% heavier than gas-powered cars, which means more stress on their “regenerative” breaks and much faster tire wear.”

Who was it on this forum who accused me of nitpicking when I listed excessive tire wear as one of the drawbacks of EVs?

How often you gotta replace them regenerative 'break' pads?

And half (or more) of the voting populace voting for right wing ideologies. At least that has been the trend for the last 10 to 15 years worldwide...

The percentage voting for right wing ideologies is high and getting higher, but at least in the US it's still far south of half.  Democrats have won the popular vote in the US for the last several elections....the electoral college is a great thing!
