  1. Well appearantly I'm not as much of a dumbass as originally expected. I looked on the Infinity order form and there isnt an option for d-bag or pilot chute anywhere on the form. But thank you for your advice. I appreciate it.
  2. I'm going to do that but I have one last question...forgive me if I look like a dumbass but would I have to order the pilot chute extra or would it either come with the container (probably not) or the main? Thanks!
  3. I totally agree with you and I plan on doing just that, however I got a little ahead of myself and was curious if this was a viable and 'necessary' option. Thanks for your input! Paul
  4. I'm getting my form ready to order my 1st new rig. Can anyone tell me the advantages/disadvantages to getting the option for a spring loaded pilot chute. Would this be beneficial or perhaps not worth the extra 100 dollars. I'm not exactly familiar with this and am looking for some advice. Thanks!
  5. I have wraptors but I wear them under my Mamba helmet to keep the sun out of my eyes. They are a low profile so I dont have to worry about them bumping up agaist the faceshield. I've had mine for several years..the only drawback I have with them is that the rubber on the temples wore out and now metal is what is rubbing against the side of my head. No big deal they still work fine.
  6. What you say makes sense to me. Sorry if I rambled a little bit regarding a baglock. I hope noone flames what you say because it does seem reasonable. Thanks so much for your input and I will DEFINATELY ask my rigger when I order my new rig, if this could be an option if its a really tight space inside the container. Of course, I will ask alot more questions when I order the rig and make sure I am making the best decision. Since we are on the subject...and since you have been so helpful, Is the difference between the 'thin' and wide risers that much of a difference, or just personal preference? Thanks so much for your help Paul
  7. I know it might not be any consolation, but her name is SkyBytch....hmmmm?
  8. Well obviously I'm not going to the nationals to compete either...I'm just going to check it out because the nationals will be at my home DZ for the first time. It should be pretty sweet to watch. This would be my first nationals to ever see and I'd just like to check it out. Blue skies brother. PS I just like to jump to jump as well. I dont really 'plan' on doing anything competitive, but as I gain more experience, who knows what'll happen. Hey if anything is possibly in the world who knows maybe even I can be the next DBC? Maybe that a bit lofty?
  9. I agree with you. Once I get my rig I plan on jumping the hell out of that 170. I weigh 150 lbs. so I dont think thats too agressive for me. I have no intentions on swooping or HP landings. I just want to jump (alot) and get enough numbers to start wingsuiting. But hey I'll need a D license for that (most likely) and by then I can buy a new rig that will accomidate a wingsuit better. Til then I'll be jumping this new rig alot. Thanks for the assistance brother! See you at the Nationals this year? Skydive Spaceland? Woo Hoo!!
  10. about the opinions thing...I was actually doing that so that you could post your opinion and if anyone was to flame you to get off your back. It just sounded like I was ragging on you...instead I wanted to let it be known that on this post all ideas are appreciated! PK
  11. Umm...What is an OP? is that like calling me a whuffo or something for buying new gear?
  12. Opinions are like ass***** everyone has one. Now on to your comment. I know I dont know squat when it comes to jumping, but could you fill me in on how a one size higher d-bag could possibly cause a mal? I use these forums to use MORE THAN ONE opinion and culminate them to guide me. And I could use this tidbit, if it was 'marginal' that it could cause a mal. However, if its like a 25% chance or higher that I could get a baglock...I'll pass. Now I know that you can't give numbers when making references to something like this, but I do know someone that jumped at my DZ that passed away from a baglock mal. That being said he pulled WAY too low to accomidate for his mal and by the time he executed his EP's. It was almost virtually too late. I know that I'm rambling, but two types of mal's that scare the shit out of me are horseshoe's and baglocks. I know the horseshoe wouldn't come into play for this but if a slightly larger d-bag would then I'll pass. However, I don't know which is why I am asking you to explain me the difference. Thanks for your input! I appreciate it. Paul
  13. Yeah that makes sense. Perhaps I should have chosen my words better. I know that I will find a container made for a 170 for sure. Thanks for your help. Oh and I usually just wipe my snot on my pantsleg. Yes thats gross, but hey I'm from the country!
  14. Ok so I have been thinking and even though I still want a new container AAD and reserve, I think purchasing a used Sabre2 170 main would work. That way I can get a container that will fit both a 150 and a 170. I can downsize later and it shouldn't be nearly as hectic to pack. (and a little cheaper.) In my opinion this seems like the best path for me to take.
  15. At my DZ I have been jumping a Sabre2 190 since my 10th jump. And since it will be several months before I get my new rig I will be still jumping that same rented 190 until the new rig comes in. I am only wanting to go down 1 size because I plan on using that 170 for at least a few hundred jumps.
  16. Ok I am now looking at getting a rig of my own this year. I am now doing my research and honestly I'd like to forego the used gear and go ahead and buy a new rig. I want a infinity container, a Sabre2 170 main and a PD reserve with a Cypres 2. I know how much it'll cost and I'll let you in on why I want a new rig. I plan on jumping this year quite a bit and I've been jumping a 190 since I was on student status. I only plan on downsizing one size (nothing dramatic) And once I start jumping the 170 I plan on using that rig for several years. I don't plan on downsizing the 170 for at least 2 to 3 years until I am extremely proficient at the Sabre2 170. I want to use the gear for a long time. ( I plan on jumping til I'm either dead or cant do it anymore) I want a new rig because I plan on keeping it for a long time, and used gear could have unforseen issues, and the resale value wouldnt be nearly as much for a newer rig. Besides, it's a pain in the butt to go on the forums and research a used rig, and then have the money ready to buy then. I would rather buy a new rig and get it the way I want it rather than getting what someone else has handed down per say. The only drawback that I know of is that packing a new rig can suck ass. Please give me any input as to the path I am taking, and if I'm being stupid about it or would a new rig work. I have never owned a new or used rig as of yet. I have my A license and want to stop renting gear ASAP. Thanks for your advice in advance. Paul
  17. Hello, I am relatively low numbered jumper ( A Licensed) and wanting to buy my first rig. I would like a little help deciding between a 7 and 9 cell canopy. I'd like relatively soft openings and a deep flair. No intentions on swooping or high performance landings. Eventually when I have enough jump numbers I'd like to fly a wingsuit, but I've got several hundred jumps before that happens. So for now I'd like either a Infinity container or a Javelin with either PD Sabre2 or a PD Storm (or equivalent). I was unsure of the flight characteristics between the two and which would be best for me. I weigh 155 lbs and I plan on flying a 190. Which is what I've been jumping since my 10th STP jump. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Paul
  18. There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch
  19. Ok so I got my license several months ago and yes I'm not current because I lost my job at the beginning of the year and I was unemployed for several months and skydiving wasnt a necessity so, I took some time off. When it warms up here (which shouldnt be too much longer since I'm in south texas. Let me be honest with you...All I want to do now that I've got my license is wingsuiting. However, because I'm still a noob, I don't know all the criteria for starting doing wingsuit jumps. Obviously, my first 20 or so jumps will be just me catching back up to the game again. But is there any criteria like going into freeflying. Most of the sources I spoke with before told me to go out and do RW jumps before you want to attempt to start freeflying. That makes sense to me, since before I can think about entering the 'other' dimension of flying I should be good on my belly. Are there any guidelines like this for wingsuiting? I mean I can track decently for a recently licensed jumper, but is there any more I should know before I start asking jumpers at my DZ for advice to start wingsuiting? Thanks for your advice in advance. Paul
  20. I agree with all of you regarding altitude awareness. I beleive that it is completely essential and I understand what you mean when you 'feel' everything around you. And I can assure you that while under canopy my head is on a swivel looking at all the angles to watch out for other canopies in close approximation. I had always intended to use this as a backup device and to set it slightly lower than my pull altitude so if for some reason I did get unaware I could hear a beep telling my to wake the hell up and pull. I appreciate all your advice and this is the whole reason I use the forums.
  21. I agree with most of you but I'm not trying to specifically disagree with you but I was always under the impression you cannot be too altitude aware. I have an altitrack as my primary altimeter. However, I thought that using an audible as an extra set of 'ears' would only assist in my altitude awareness instead of making me rely on it. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
  22. No I was referring to the landing tones you can set. I wanted to become more accurate landing closer to the target on landings. What did you think I was talking about? Usually when I enter the pattern at 1,000 feet I tend to overshoot the target by 30 to 50 meters. However, when I can begin the pattern at around 800 feet I get much closer to the circle. It could be because I am only 150 lbs flying a 190. I dunno.
  23. Fair enough! That sounds like a appropriate comment. I'll just keep it if I decide to use it later in case I get another helmet in a few hundred jumps that has an mount for it or something like it. And I just wanted to use the audible to make me fly better.
  24. I currently own a Bonehead Mamba fullface helmet. I recently purchased an optima, and I thought it might be a good addition to use the long LED for more altitude awareness. However, when I got it the directions were very limited and it looks like they want me to drill two small holes in the faceshield. Trust me that wont happen and I wont use it if I have to drill holes in my helmet. Has anyone used this configuration before and does it work on a Mamba? Thanks in advance for your advice! Paul
  25. This is a clip of anomaly in action. http://youtube.com/watch?v=7PplUVDDn7I I guess the whole thing about it is that I dont really know alow of the more experienced RW guys at my drop zone and I'm uncertain as to who to speak to about jumping with others now that I'm off student status. It's starting to warm up nicely around here so in a few weeks when I get back jumping again I'll have to look some of those guys up. Thanks.
