  1. A friend of mine once did take a lightning with a mesh slider to terminal, jammed pilot chute. He could'nt jump for 2 days. Don't try this at home kids. PD Smith
  2. Tri's have a narrower cross section and fly faster than Lightnings on a given wing loading. I do alot of video flying with my team who are on lightnings while I am on my Hybrid Triathlon and I am fighting not to fly into the back of them. Don't know about any other form of Tri'. PD
  3. The whole matter is being handled by the appropriate people and further discussion on this subject is only going to inflame an already difficult situation. Let the people whose job it is to sort this out do their job. PD
  4. Oh we get the altitude ok, just have to guess were we are above the ground sometimes !. Industrial haze don't you know what. Doing very well thanks but to return to the thread Tri's are faster forward speed and abit more twichy but land nicer. PD.
  5. Nice shot, was that taken at the world champ's in Indonesia 1996 ?. PD Smith
  6. I can only reinforce Gordons point here, Taz' mother had the news men ringing her up only a coulpe of hours after she found out the news that Taz had died. I would hate to hear that sort of news from the press. We need to give time for the authorities to pass on the message to the loved ones, 12 hours delay is not going to make any difference to the forum. PD.Smith
  7. We were doing a two week training camp in Florida and towards the end we got to know the local camera flyer and visa versa. We spent about 2 hours briefing the dive, on the one rest day we gave ourselves and tried it out three times if my memory serves, taking it at first very cautiously, over 150 feet between us down to the last one about 30 feet. Close enough to read the logo's on the AR 7s we were jumping. The important thing was that the stack didn't go off heading. Concentrates the mind if you know what I mean. Spotty Bowles had my footage, whether he still has I don't know. But the whole thing was very well planed with all the what if's preplanned so that everyone knew what to do. Bob died practicing somersaut's off a pillon not long after. A real loss, he was a a great guy and jumper. PD
  8. He didn't go between the formation and me but on the third time we tried it he passed close enough to read the logo on the side of the canopies as he went by. I could hear him as he went by. All good fun. PD.
