Quotemaybe ask in the rigging forum if they think it's a good idea to pack your only parachute in a dusty construction area
Maybe he should ask in the rigging forum if they think its a good idea to pack your only parachute in a grass field.
Or a small hotel room.
Maybe he should ask in the rigging forum if jumping your only parachute unpacked is a good idea.
Maybe he should ask in the rigging area if jumping off a B is a good idea.
Maybe he should ask in the rigging forum if fliking the Potato in the morning without notifying the sherrif is a good idea.
Maybe he should ask in the rigging forum if jumping a single parachute system is a good idea period.
And lastly, didn't he say he packed on tarps, thereby negating whatever dust might have been laying around?Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -

When I first started skydiving at Perris JP was cool and sent me a PM to look him up anytime I was at the DZ...had a couple of tunnel sessions with him as well. He also offered me a certificate he had for a discount on a PD reserve.
Not that any of that means shit BASE jumping, but it shows the kind of person he is.
Some local in FL should hook him up or he should dayblaze your objects just to give you the middle finger.Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -
JAT stewardess Vesna Vulović survived a fall of over 10,000 meters on January 26, 1972 when she was thrown from JAT Flight 364 by an terrorist bomb. She broke several bones and was in a coma for 27 days.
In World War II there were several reports of aircrew surviving long falls; Nick Alkemade, Alan Magee, and I.M. Chisov all fell at least 6,000 meters and survived.Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -

there is also purity to hiking the whole 2000 meters, and making one or 2 jumps in a day.
If one is going for purity then one should swim to Norway after walking to the ocean. Walk up from the Campsite and swim 4km back from the landing area doncha think?
Take care,

Did someone really get in 11 fliks in a day? Or are you be facetious?
I was wondering what the average number of jumps per day per participant is? Limited by helo volume or wallet size?Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -
Yes, all the charts vary.
Notice Tom does NOT recommend stowing a 46, yet this is common practice in some circles...Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -

Shannon and Brians deaths were BIG time national news. That guy getting hung up on the guy wires in Nor Cal was BIG time national news. Jeb's arrest was BIG time national news.
Maybe it's about time for something positive from the BASE community to make BIG time national news...
People have been driven by the premise that ANY publicity is bad for BASE...thus ensuring that ONLY NEGATIVE publicity reaches the general population.Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -
The vertical support column of a hammerhead/T top/whatever you want to call it construction crane is made up of segments.
They appear to me to be about 20' or 6 meters. Is this pretty standard? Has anyone ever measured one?Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -
LOL, if I was really upset about it I'd be typing stuff that Mr. Aiello would give me a 14 day learning lesson over...Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -

QuoteAny of you who know me know I am not
a real BASE jumper by any measure.
However, BASE 515 / Mike's retirement made me think
of something I heard in Idaho. To be a real BASE jumper
one has to break themselves and come back. At the time
I thought it was stupid and still do -- here's why:
It is highly doubtful anyone would say BASE 515 / Mike is
not a real BASE jumper. He did 600 jumps in 9 years and
per another poster those were injury free. In my opinion
this is a damn good thing! Congrats Mike!!
I could give a fuck what anyone else thinks, I hope in 9 years I've made 600 jumps and kept myself injury free...
Not only is he aREAL BASE jumper, but he is also obviously a REAL SMART BASE jumper...which I believe to be preferable to the first.

QuoteWhile the DR is quite undeveloped generally, Santo Domingo is a very busy city. You would be hard pressed to find a real phone in a house in most places, but EVERYBODY has cellphones. I spent quite a bit of time in the country a few years ago and have great friends there.
Want to hit one of the coolest clubs in the world? Go to La Guacara Taina in Santo Domingo. It's a club in a subteranian cave right in the middle of the city park. Fucking cool. A very-rich-folk club in town is called El Birimbau.
The street cops there will flag you down for no reason and grift money from you if you look the least bit "touristy" in a rental car. Our DNCD Id's kept those idiots at bay.
Two nights we went in to Santo Domingo. Both nights our cab drove by the US embassy. Both nights I made the cab stop and I went and introduced myself to the USMC gate guards...because if shit went wrong they would be my ONLY friends.Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -

Bunch of wanna be Steven Hawkings around here.
Why don't you guys argue if information is lost upon the demise of a black hole or something while you're at it.
All you need to know about physics is if you hit the ground (or water) hard, it's going to ruin your day.
