  1. Thanks for the pointer in the right direction , but as usual, #120 replies in that thread and nothing close to a coherent well thought-out response as to why someone would bitch about $1.00 increase for what turns out to be a brilliant PR move in a community soon to be taken over by left wing nutbars from the Republic of Boulder who have had an agenda against the noise, pollution and dangers of what is a well run dropzone for a number of years. I think Mile-Hi and Frank are fighting a losing battle against a small minority of the residents in Longmont, but I'll keep jumping there until they do. Where else is someone going to laydown a 600'+ swoop? ---------------------------------- Am I still in this world? Yes, Grandfather. I was afraid of that.
  2. All very interesting, but what's your point? Is your issue with the writer of the article or Frank or the Jeff Sands Fund?? The article points out that Frank suggested this to the Solich's. I do not mind paying $2.00 more to jump at Mile-High. The price of gas to Brush or Canon City or even my old DZ at Calhan doesn't make much sense. Also the Otter and the facilities make it worth the $2.00. If you have a product worth more than the other guy, you charge for it. Damn capitalism! If your pointing out that the loan was made at less than the going rate, then you need to speak to the Solich's and their accountant to see what went into that decision. Risk vs. Rate of Return, etc., but I sure don't mind a dropzone borrowing money at the lowest possible interest rate. I hear Frank is also using the additional money to enclose all of Longmont in a giant bubble, so we can jump 365, so it's all good. ---------------------------------- Am I still in this world? Yes, Grandfather. I was afraid of that.
  3. I said I EXPECT politicians to lie, not that I tolerate it. The problem with the process is that a politician can always find someone to believe him/her. Or the voters Hot-Button issue is so narrowly focused (i.e.: abortion or the war or immigration or fishy smelling cigars) that they will over look almost anything else. Are you sure your computer didn't scramble that last line in your post???? Didn't you mean to say " The American people are doomed to lose in the 2008 election, because they have to elect another liar." Did that sound cynical enough? And as for Canada and Stephen Harper, good luck. If he turns out to be as good as you guys expect him to be, perhaps he can come on down and run a real country. Canada just has to take Hillary in exchange. But back on point, Aerodyne and the CEO in particular, have handled this as well as could be expected. I doubt Edward knew of his employees previous conversations with Northern, so his response to a mess that got dumped on him is commendable. ---------------------------------- Am I still in this world? Yes, Grandfather. I was afraid of that.
  4. I talked to them over the last couple of months asking for a status report and I got lies. I was told your canopy is done and we are sending it back to you or we are waiting for the lines or let me get back to you.......That was 3 months ago. ____________________________________________________________________ Edward, I would imagine that you have addressed this issue with Northern also. I my little piece of the world, the "lies" would be what I would hang my hat on to decide to never do business with a company again. We aren't talking about a pizza order or your son or daughter when you ask them if they cleaned their rooms. This is an expensive investment for most people and something their lives depend on. Maybe we have grown to expect it from a used car salesman or politician , but I would think you would never put up with it for your company. I may get upset, but I respect a company/individual when they tell me the truth. Even when it wasn't what they may have 'promised' or 'committed' to me in prior conversations. SHIT HAPPENS! I grade on a bell curve and some people have fantastic things to say and others have nothing but bad things to say, the truth is always somewhere in the middle and it sounds like you and your company are getting it right. Opinions and Assholes, right. Everybody has one. But putting the time delay aside, if this was just a mistake in communication, then most people I know could live with that. But if I find out a business has lied to me, I make every effort to do my future business elsewhere. Oh and by the way, if you come to Denver, I'll be the guy riding my horse to work from now on. God Damn Oil Companies! Blue Skies and thanks for addressing the problem in public for everybody to see. ---------------------------------- Am I still in this world? Yes, Grandfather. I was afraid of that.
  5. I have had a C6-C7 rupture for the past year and learned to deal with the pain. I admit the Vicodin probably help also. I enrolled in an F.D.A. study of a new implant to replace the disc in between the C6-C7 vertebra. You either wake up with the implant or fusion, 2/3 get the implant and 1/3 get the fusion. I scared the crap out these guys when I described a couple of my past Sabre openings and then told them I still play 1st division soccer. They told me I shouldn't be heading the ball, but I forget why???. Now they are afraid of the implant breaking. I have read most of the threads of people jumping after the fusion surgery, but is there anyone out there with any of these implants. Chances are you are from outside the US of A since the FDA is so damn slow and most of these devices have been used for the last 3 years in Europe. ---------------------------------- Am I still in this world? 6. This will probably make you do just he opposite of what my opinion is since I have that exact design on my right deltoid. Number 3 is awesome, and filling out their order form is a lot less painful than the 2 hours I spent in the chair to get my Tribal Hazardous Waste Tat. ---------------------------------- Am I still in this world? Yes, Grandfather. I was afraid of that.
  7. I had already completed Level 7 and was jumping with a couple of other students in Eloy, trying to get to my 25 completed jumps. Around jump 13 I went out last so they could comment on my landing. I was so concerned that they would be out of the way near the peas in the student area that I proceded to get to about 300 feet directly over same said peas going downwind. I then decided to do all three legs of my landing pattern. All of the legs being very quick indeed. My 1st and so far last hook turn in my short skydiving history happened directly over the trailer park which housed my instructor who was also appointed the STA for Eloy that very week. So while my two buddies were giving me high five's for my perfect stand up landing dead center in the pea's we heard a couple of people screaming and running towards us. Both my instructor and one other had heard the distinctive sound of a canopy hooking in, directly over their trailers. It was then explained to me what a hook turn was in a very loud voice for the entire, long walk back to the packing area. I have appreciated that lecture on every one of my jumps since. ---------------------------------- Am I still in this world? Yes, Grandfather. I was afraid of that.
  8. Does Cass still have any rental gear lying around?? How about all these jump tickets for referring tandems jumpers to Front Range? They are so pretty I would hate to give them up unless they have reacquired some type of value.. I saw the note about not bringing my dog along to the dropzone, but that seems kind of picky when it's so much easier to hit a cow out there! ---------------------------------- Am I still in this world? Yes, Grandfather. I was afraid of that.
  9. I agree with Airman. Your more current than my married/divorced/re-married budget allows me to be. I just jumped again on Saturday after 1 year off. A year ago I tore a rotator cuff (right arm of course) then rehab'd that and ruptured a C6-C7 vertebrae. (don't play B-Ball with ex-pro football players) I watched a DVD on malfunctions the night before and never doubted I would be ok with jumping again. Kenneth did correctly quote the Sim 5.2 and leave in the word "should". If you feel confident then talk it over with other people you've jumped with. Another jumper can judge if this is just normal jitters or something more. I talked with the dropzone owner and he knew me and my abilities, so all was good. Obviously if money is no object, then take an instructor with you. Can't hurt and he would appreciate the free jump. I have also taken Scott Miller's piloting course and recommend it highly. Have a blast girl, that's why we do this. Remember what your instructor said on all of your 1st jumps, "relax and have fun". Still the best advice. ---------------------------------- Am I still in this world? Yes, Grandfather. I was afraid of that.
