Jumper number 3
Colission with concrete pillar.
Weekend hospital, severe concussion, bunch of stitches.
6 weeks off. -
QuoteI was always told to track perpendicular to jumprun, turn 180, the track back... and do this until pulltime. It makes a lot of sense to me because you're staying on your portion of space, jump run wise.
No, you are not staying in your portion of space. It is very easy to be way of your space when you track away from jumprun and then back to it.
I do a lot of tracking myself. If I can, I exit last (if there are no tandems or AFF on the load) an fly a U-shaped pattern (upjumprun, cross, and downwind). Other wise I fly and L-shaped pattern (cross and downwind or upwind), but I never track back towards jumprun. -
I'm not getting any sound in this video? -

Tracking and atmojumps, first two jumps with Birdman Impact.
Nice weekend
Went from 79 kg to currently 76.5 kg in about 5 weeks. Just eating a bit better and training (running, swimming...) a bit more. I'm 1m75 tall.
Not loosing weigth for wingsuiting is specific, just need to loose the extra weigth I put on after two years of university (lots of food and drinks, and not so much exercice).
See you on saturday.
QuoteA few different threads in different forums prompts me to ask this.
Have read it, and always have it with me in my car.

Same thing for my neptune.
QuoteI have come to the sad realization that people are addicted to routine. Don't screw with the routine and everything will work out.
Most people, including me, want a bit (or a lot of) certitude in their life. For example, I like to be certain that I can financialy live until I get new money from work.
Even in skydiving we follow routines. We do our FJC, get our licences, get into a discipline, get coaching...
Modern day skydiving isn't really that special or that 'daring living on the edge thing' anymore.
Routine is good. If everyone follows the same pattern on landing, and you don't, then this can have dramatic consequences!
QuoteI feel helpless when I talk to people about the sport itself and they show absolutely no interest in hearing anything I have to say.
I had the same thing when I started to jump.
But then I realised that not everyboy has the same interests. I'm interested in astronomy, but there are a lot of people who are not interested in it, so I basicly don't talk about it to them, just like I don't talk about skydiving to my non-jumping friends.
Likewise, if some-one comes to me and starts talking about the football competition I'm at the least going to be bored, or get agitated if they continue to whine about it
[Quote]Or the reaction of "Oh that is so cool I have always wanted to try that." I just want to shake them and say "THEN DO IT! It is fun and personally rewarding."
I used to have the same! But, there are a lot of things that I want to do, but I don't do them rigth now. Why not? Because I currently do other things that I find more important, and there isn't enough time/money left. Skydiving is not for everyone a top priority. One year before I started jumping it wasn't a top priority for me, but I could have easily done it at the time (money wise, time wise).QuoteIt is amazing all the different excuses people come up with.
Maybe they just want you to shut up about it?
Take my advice and stop talking about skydiving to people who are not interested in it. You are only wasting your time and it migth be really bad for the friendship (been there, done that...)
I rarely talk to my non-jumping friends about jumping. We have other common interest that we talk about.QuoteWE NEED MORE PEOPLE
I don't generaly agree with that anyway.

And before you all steam in without the facts, it's worth pointing out that the footage and our gear was confiscated by the construction company and THEY sold it to the papers, NOT US.
I can only guess it was leaked by a disgruntled member of security.
Not picking on you but did you have a get-away plan after the jump?
When you're landing in the middle of a building that you jumped from, I guess it is not that easy to get out without beeing seen/stopped by someone.
Doesn't really look on the video that you were trying a quick get-away, or am I mistaking?
Quote>No-one in a relationship has the right to tell you what you can or can't do.
In a good relationship, you don't tell people what to do - you care about what they want enough that you find a way to make it work.
That is exactly my point. Not that I have much field experience anyway...
QuoteDo you also have a petition for common sense and wise decisions?
I kinda like Tom Aiello's quote about BASE:
"In all honesty, I think an IQ test would be a better prerequisite for jumping than a test of physical strength."
QuoteBesides, after dating for only 5 months she needs to realize that she has no right to tell you what you can and can't do.
No-one in a relationship has the right to tell you what you can or can't do.
You don't "own" a person.
QuoteQuoteQuoteOtherwise, it will destroy your system resources
Why is that?
Simply because it requires so much. I'm a gamer with an excellent computer, and I havent moved to Vista simply because its going to take a bunch of my system resources just to operate properly
Yes offcourse, I think I missread/misunderstood what you said.
Sorry
QuoteOtherwise, it will destroy your system resources
Why is that?
QuoteYou don't get a choice. You can't buy XP licenses from any OEMs any more. You WILL get Vista, like it or not.
Hmm, not here. Plenty of places where I still can get XP.
I'm going to need to buy a new laptop and I'm still thinking about the OS I want on it.
Has anyone already worked with Vista on a laptop? How does it work on it? Do you like it better then XP?
The laptop I need is mainly one for programming (C#, C, Java..), usage in experiments, mathematical calculations, etc..
I'm not really going to use it for playing games or watching movies.
Basicly I want an OS that is fast, stable, reliable.
Unfortunatly it must be a Windows OS, so Mac isn't an option.
QuoteWhile a few of USPA's rules annoy me, I understand why
they are needed. The larger a group becomes the more
standardized the rules/laws need to be.
Then I ask myself, what kinds of people do these rules/laws attract...
Rules and laws give a lot of people a false sense of security.
Never forgot them. Since I wear contacts I always make sure I have them with me.
I even can't take my goggles off under canopy.
QuoteThat right there is an important factor. Like others have said, own up to the mistakes you have made. People seem to forget that you can't be an asshole on the internet and expect it to not affect you when you step away from the computer. I am not saying that is what you did, but my guess is you pushed the limits of what is acceptable. The question now is how badly do you want to skydive.
It is easy for them to ignore me at the dropzone, but on a public board it is much harder to do this.
I think it is best for me to keep a low profile at the dropzone if I go back.
QuoteOurs is 180 EUR
180 is with insurance,
100 if it is just club membership and you are already insured elsewhere.
QuoteIE still crashes
I have the answer for you: Firefox!
QuoteOn the top ya loser. Sheesh.
You like to be on top?
Where is the windows taskbar on your screen?
Mine is on the right, so much better!
Not another skydiving movie
