  1. The Cypres2 does what it says on the tin: it fires at 750ft if you're still descending at over 35m/s.

With more documented saves than the competition, the Cypres2 has proven itself to be very reliable over time.

The only downside to owning one? Its lifetime cost is a little more than some of its competitors.

If you're in the market for an AAD, it comes recommended.

  2. The Pro-Track is an audible altimeter and electronic log-book. While no longer the latest generation (Optima, Viso & Altitrack are newer), it works extremely well and is excellent value.

Its primary shortcoming is the expensive batteries it uses. The user interface will take a few minutes to get used to, but once learned is easy to navigate.

    Recommended.

  3. I did 350 jumps on my Spectre 190, loaded at about 1.05:1. The canopy is tolerant of less-than-optimal packing, will get you back from a long spot on rears, turns on a dime, and is tough enough for some recreational CRW. It's forgiving enough that I walked away from a couple of bad decisions with damage to only my ego.

The Spectre has a short recovery arc so if your only goal in life is to learn to swoop, it might not be the best choice.

    Highly recommended.
