  1. I was wondering if a notification of waiting e-mail could be added somewhere at the top? Thanks Q
  2. Thanks for all the answers! We (The Humane Society and me) have decided to wait until Spring to do this in order to give ourselves more time to co-ordinate and work out logistics, but I have another question for the group: Has anyone ever co-ordinated a Benefit Sky-Dive and how receptive are the DZ's to doing this? Thanks! Bluies Quas'
  3. Because I only got started this past June, I have never really made a cold-weather jump, but I am asking because my local Humane Society waould like to arrange a "benefit jump" with one of our local DZ's, and because there are few "open" weekends left, they were wondering if they could get an estimate as to the latest possible time here in Georgia one could jump without freezing one's ass off. So what's been your experience, on the average? I realize there's a 30 day currency rule for experienced divers, but it is hoped to get some new birds into the flock with this promotion. Located in West Georgia (Cedartown/Rockmart area) Thanks Q
  4. Nate shot my first tandem video. I was wondering if ASDC is planning any kind of memorial service for him, because I would like to attend. May God be with you, Katie Bill
  5. Although the only pic I could find of Nate was in the previous post, some of his incredible photography can be seen at the DZ website here. http://www.ascskydiving.com/divingpics2.htm Q
  6. He shot my first tandem. He was so incredibly nice to me. I'm very upset and my heart goes out to him and his Katie and family. I will always treasure my video with his voice and canopy in it. Blue Skies, Nate. I didn't know you as well as some of the folks at the DZ, but I will treasure your memory just the same. Bill
  7. This is my DZ, but I only just now got a call from one of the nurses I work with, and I don't know if the guy survived or later died at the hospital. ANyone got any good information? My DZ is closed and I'm still too new to know anyone there personally. Thanks Q
  8. I made my first tandem and enjoyed it immensely! My second is shceduled for July 8th, and I plan to go all the way to certification! Thank Y'all so much for your support! Y'all are awesome Dude! I do have a few questions however. Was I supposed to have been given a certificate after my first tandem, or a log book or something? Also, is 3 minutes about the regular time for a video? My SO paid for my first jump, but I think she expected more from the video than I told her...... I would like to post my pictures, but I doubt that any of you experienced divers would bother to look at them. Still, I think y'all rock, and I thank you so much for your advice! Best Regards Quasi
  9. Happy Birthday, Baby-Doll! From Your Favorite Rookie ("Whuffo"?) Quasi
  10. Guess me and MH are gonna have to butt heads and bond, and then do a dive together. Soon as I get my ticket, Dude!
  11. Thank you! Thanks very much. I have never trusted my life to another person, and yes, it was very emotional for me. I will always remember the experience and remember my TM. Guess I need to get a sense of humor, huh? I do love you guys and I wouldn't trade last Saturday morning for anything in the world. My apology to motherhucker and blue skies to all of ya'! Q
  12. Sorry! This is not a reply to damion 75. Basically it is a reply to anyone who has the same attiitude as the OP. I came here asking for help. and most of you were very supportive and welcoming. I just didn't expect this. Great welcome to the sky. I guess I understand why the post got moved here, but I expected more than what he posted. I really felt cared for up there, and because my TM took that extra trouble, I'll be back. He made me feel so at ease, pre-flight, free-fall, chute and post flight. He took the trouble to talk and listen to me, and no I haven't checked out any other TM's, DZ's , airplanes, etc. But I liked everything about this DZ and how they took care of me, so what's the deal? I traveled 25 miles to get to this one, where else do you want me to go? So is this usual practice here at dropzone.com? To take someone's "thank you" and shit on it?
  13. So there are assholes in the sky as well? Dude, that was my first jump ever. It meant a lot to me, but you apparently just enjoyed shitting all over it. I can appreciate sarcasm as well as the next guy, but what you posted (without even any comment) was uncalled for. Are you trolling here or what? My DZ rocks!. My Tandem Master Johan rocks! The Otter rocks! You, motherhucker do not rock. You suck. Quasi
  14. Jimmy, The dive itself was a huge success, but the music mattered. I needed Blood On The Risers to begin the video and I needed Louis Armstong's Wonderful World (your suggestion) to end it . My videographer chose to include only 2 of my songs ("Fanfare For The Common Man" and "Purple Haze") in my 3 minute video. He could have faded down Purple Haze after Jimi sang "'Scuse me while I kiss the sky!" and brought in Wonderful World, but he chose not to do that. The music was very important, Jimmy! Sorry, but I felt I wasn't listened to, and it cost me 85 bucks. Your Pal, Q PS: I'm ready for my next tandem even without the music! I wanna grab me a piece of the sky!
  15. Yeah, okay, that's fine and I do appreciate the fact that my T/M Johan does this for a living, but my point was that he was kind to me during ground instruction, he was kind to me in the Otter, and he let me give him a hug after landing. Next "Open Bar" we have at my DZ, he gets a beer. And Jimmy? My video sucked. Can it be re-shot, do ya think? Thanks Q
  16. Sorry, Tom, my bad. I have read your article, and I appreciate your pointing me there. Thanks Q
  17. Yeah, I know I'm just a newbie, but my curiosity's up. Thanks Q
  18. Then he achieved two things: He got me into the proper position, plus he made me relax. Awesome, just awesome. I won't ever forget today, or how kindly I was treated. Y'all are totally cool! Q
  19. I have watched my video for the 20th time just now, and I can't get over that part of it! We were in the doorway of the plane and that is what he did. He put his hand on my brow, gently pulled my head back and the next thing I knew we were in free-fall. I don't know if this is common practice, but when he did that, all the scare left me and I felt very very safe with him. It's like Johan was saying "I care about you, and I won't let anything happen. Relax and trust me." Every time I see that portion of the video, it makes me choke up with emotion. I work in a hospital as a respiratory therapist, and I know how important the personal "touch" is, but I did not expect that. He does not frequent this website, but I thank him anyway. I'm gushing, right? Q
