  1. in regard to flash setups... I've been considering setting up a litepanel and was curious if anyone other then DSE has set one up and/or had any thoughts on configuring one.

I'm pretty sure I can figure it out... however since it showed up on the market there is now a slightly larger version LitePanel MicroPro/MicroPro Hybrid and was curious if these were also configurable on the front of a FTP?

    Any thoughts?

  2. I've been able to play with Nik for the last few years (and hopefully will still be able to occasionally ;))... He is a great instructor, outstanding flyer, and an all around good guy...

I haven't actually gotten much actual coaching from him... but I do have a number of pictures of him...:)
I don't know Thomas well but he I know he's a great flyer and coach as well... so I agree it sounds like a good lineup...

    :)

Within the article, it states that "According to Newsom, a skydiving accident that injured a 17-year-old girl Sunday is being investigated by the company and the Federal Aviation Administration." *(emphasis added by me)

Does anybody know if this statement, or quote, is accurate? Is THE FAA really, and indeed - directly now, actively investigating this incident?

possibly off topic... but its a distinct possibility that a local FSDO has performed an investigation... he is an experienced/active skydiver...

I know he performed an investigation of the incident involving a swooper at the beginning of the year... because I was at the airport when he did it...

My wife has hinted several times about getting a dog, but I haven't caved in yet. Our 3....2...1 cats would NOT be happy. :D

1 cat? Hell no, there are THREE. Though I imagine that in a few years we'll be down to 1. The older ones are around 10 years old now.
I wouldn't hold your breath... my parents had a cat that lived well over 16 years...

  6. For highway driving and general around town directions/driving I don't generally use maps...

however, for backpacking or any real serious hiking a quality map (1/24k type map) and compass is necessary... it's also important to know how to use them to figure out where you are and where you want to go... even if the map is only used in conjunction with an appropiate GPS...

I got a picture sent, once, of another skydiver's penis. It wasn't intended for me, sent accidentally. He was pretty embarrassed that I had gotten his picture. I posted it here a while back.

I recieved a picture of a dz.commers nuts painted gold...

along with several others on the old dz.com dd list...

that was a little disturbing but not entirely unexpected since he informed us he would be doing it...

  9. Unfortunately there aren't any dzs particularly close to dz... I've been to skydive the point and it's a pretty good dz with a regular RW crowd and usually a PAC or King Air...

I've not been, because it's farther from South of DC (where my wife and I are) but I've heard Delmarva is pretty good although as I understand it they have a strong freefly presence and not nearly as much RW... but that's just what I've heard it may not be true.

  10. I've got a home theater pc running windows 7, with a bluray drive running power dvd, it has a 1 TB drive for storage, and will play just about anything I throw at it...

I can watch netflix, hulu, dvd/bluray, etc from across the room with a remote using windows media center.

So, has anyone posted video from the 36 way or the pyro display? I watched a couple there, but would like to see it again.

we only managed to scrounge up a 33-way (but it went really well)... but I haven't done anything with the video yet... other then get it to a USPA Judge.

I have been fiddling with a few of the photos and may upload some of them before leaving for Chicago to support my wife's 4-way team at nationals...

I will create a video with the jumps from the boogie when I get back home (to include the 33-way) next week.

This is a really great tip, and a super way to get exposure for the band and free music for yourself.
One caveat; be sure the band owns all rights to their music.
We had a band give us rights, they assured us (in writing/reps/warranties) that they owned rights.
We did a webisode for Panasonic and within a few days had a cease and desist from the band's producer, who also had (in writing) rights to the song. [:/]

I realise/understand the reason for this but to me the idea that an artist doesn't have control of their own music is really sad... :|

  14. I used a blow switch... and have for a couple of years... I have however had the diaphram portion on my blowswitch fail and it needed replacing but it lasted much longer then the tounge switch I started shooting stills with...
