  1. Spoiler Alert!

They had a HALO jump from 14K at the end of the show. It was from a Skyvan. Skyvan had a butt load of nose up on jump run. More than 9 people aft of the red line methinks. The briefing said it was going to be formation jumping. I figured they'd launch a chunk. They didn't. >:( Same day, same way, SEAL FS, I guess.

One guy has a mal on opening. Possible line over. He is at 5,000 ft. (Brief was open at 4,000 ft. Plan the dive, dive the plan. Bad SEAL!) Rides it for about 2,000 feet. Finally, after me yelling, "Chop it!" for about 2,000 feet (expired Coach rating kicked right in.), he does.

Looks like he gets stable, and then no pull. Unplanned high speed intercept with Mother Earth.

And now every whuffo who sees that will have the same response, "He died because his chute didn't open."

Come on CBS, you can do better than that. No RSL? No AAD?

after jump eight, it is pretty much the same as other methods.

I did static line many moons ago, and it was a stepped progression of 5 static line jumps, one hop-n-pop, three 5 second (sec) delays, three 10 sec delays, three 15 sec delays, three 20 sec delays, and three 30 sec delays, if I remember correctly.

And you could never do a "new" jump as the first jump of the day. So that, if you did three 10 sec delays on a Saturday, on Sunday, you had to do another 10 sec delay before you could do a 15 sec delay.

Twenty-five to thirty jumps was not uncommon to get off of student status.

I have not been around a dropzone that does static line training lately. Has all that changed? Are they going directly to one minute freefall after getting off static line?

DC the highest at 82, WV the lowest at 72.

This site says Hawaii is the highest at 81.3. They put DC at 43rd (76.53 yoa).

Kind of interesting, they list the biggest cause of death for women 35 - 44 in Colorado as poisoning. What the hell is going in in CO?

This reminds me that the last note I sent with Mr.owc6 is getting old and ragged. He kept it in his wallet.

I need to do a new one and put it in tomorrow's lunch.

It's a wonderful sentiment and I'm sure he appreciates it (I would), but you really have to work on your sheep drawings.

If we could track it, I would not be surprised if those were the people we lose first, because they got bored with the sport.

If you want to know the sport, compete, or at least train to compete, in a discipline. You will never pick up all the nuances by yourself.

Worked very hard to avoid saying, "participation trophies" in this response.

when & where was the last skysurf jump you saw?

Had one out at the DZ about six weeks ago. Youngsters were all like, "WTF?"

Asked him the same question. He said he had been doing a lot of them out at Perris. Quien sabe?

Got his exit at the very end of this video:

Biggest question we had was where should he go in the exit lineup?

    Parachute, poorly faked death.

Or the guy fell out while trying to take a dump in Lake Michigan from 12,000 feet.

Pretty nice folks, but a little disorganized...It is also my home DZ.

  10. Flew helos in and out of LAX a few times. You were dreaming if you thought they would let you land on a runway, or even a taxi way. They always cleared us to a ramp off the taxi way. Friend declared an emergency once, and they gave him the taxi way. Huge concession, apparently.

I think this is from a movie, but can't remember.
