  1. A few years back a guy at our DZ hooked it in and broke his leg. He happened to be wearing a camera (and borrowed gear..) and got some dandy footage of the error of his ways. While on the ground and after they took his helmet off, I wandered over and noticed the camera was still recording. Hmmm. I picked up the helmet and kept it on him as the para medics worked on him and then took him to the hospital. After getting better, he watched the stuff, including my close ups of his boo boo. The footage was sent to a FOX show called "You Gotta See This!" The production people came out a couple of weeks later and interviewed him and some of us at the DZ, including yours truly. The show aired sometime later, and may have even repeated. I've had many people come up to me and comment on the show, but I have never SEEN it. It occurred to me, that some of you might have a collection of this stuff and could share it with me. Please let me know if you have a copy of this show and would be willing to shoot a copy over to me. Thanks. RW in Houston Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com
  2. Is the tripod socket sufficient, by itself, to keep a PC 100 / 120 attached? It's attached via a Stroboframe quick release system. Anyone had one come off mounted like that? RW Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com
  3. Just received my DVD of the 300 way dive. Very nice!! What I enjoy most is the RAW footage from each camera; exit to break off! Worth buying. I received it on the 25th anniversary of my first jump. At that time, a Texxas 20 way had not yet been completed. (May 14, 1978)
  4. Yes. RT 1966 Going to the reunion in less than 2 weeks. I have 8 tandems lined up at Marana then. I get to jump the girls. RW Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com
  5. Eagle Flight, Granbury, Texas. Bad weather. One jump, but not on my PC. Kim Fuller came and showed me some Para Commanders that were BRAND NEW. Gotta pack these babies careful, because they don't make them any more. Mike Polhemus, a friend from my Yewt in Saudi Arabia lives in Granbury and flew his AerCoupe by. I put the camera onto the side to shoot some cockpit noise. On to Skydive Dallas, where Stan Scrimsher enjoyed the Museum Pieces that are my vintage pictures. There are shots of his 8 year old self hanging out at Seagoville, Texas in the 70s. That's about all the pleasure I got there. Arrived at night and awoke to howling winds and low overcast. Shee it. Now in a motel in Dallas waiting for tomorrow to come so I can go to Palestine, Texas on bidness. RW Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com
  6. In Stephenville now, on the way to EAGLE FLIGHT in Granbury, TX and Skydive Dallas. Stopped off at Skydive Temple at Salado, but they weren't jumping. Rich told me he doesn't allow "rounds" on the dropzone. Ended up jumping off of a picnic table (rigged with round, of course..) Russell M. 7. Well, I put together a Para Commander in a conventional rig and decided that I should visit every single DZ in Texas and jump the thing at each one of them this summer. I've been to Beeville, Skydive Houston and Ags over Texas so far. I'll be bringing some vintage pics that I took in the Dallas area in the 70s also. It would be nice to have a little reunion of JUMA folks if any are reading this thread. Actually, any Dallas old timers getting together would be nice. Russell Webb. P.S. I'll be heading to Dallas on Friday, May 2, 2003. Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com

  10. I sent off for a product video after reading the first article about "Vector III" tandem system in Skydiving Magazine. I believe I sent in the deposit about a week after watching the tape. On October 13, 2000, I arrived at the Relative Workshop in DeLand after driving from Texas. Nothing beats the service I got straight from the man himself (Bill) and T.K. Donle. It was worth the drive to get that hands on first look at the rig and personal instruction. First jump was on the way home at Crestview Florida with a waitress I met the night before. I immediately noticed the very nice difference that moving the drogue six inches forward made. No more head down. I don't know how any tandem system can be made less "stiff". To me, however, it's quite comfortable. The new passenger harness should be used on all current and older systems, because there's nothing better. It takes some serious attention to the instructions on how to harness the passenger, but once you have that nailed, there should never be an incident caused by a passenger saying "I can't pick my feet up." A properly harnessed passenger can simply pick up their knees and be SET in the harness. I sometimes push them down a bit. The only bugs are tuck tabs that don't always stay tucked and a cutaway cable housing on the left that sticks out too far. After 300 jumps on the EZ 425 I switched to a Sigma 395. Wow. Nice openings, easy toggle pressure, quick turns and not nearly as difficult to bag as earlier thought. All in all, after 29 months of owning a Sigma Tandem Rig, I say GO for it. P.S. See why people died on tandems in the past, and realize that the cause of about a third of them was an out of sequence deployment. Can't happen on Sigma.

  12. A while back I requested input on Sigma Tandem Canopies. I was waiting for delivery of my own, of course. It arrived. Sweeet. Light toggle pressure, quick turns, nice flatten out on landing. Doing the same old, "Hey would you like to make a fast turn?" spooked ME. Thanks to Manny Dwyer for first jump. YOU OWE BEER, DUDE. (His first tandem out of 400 jumps) I already bought mine for first jump on Sigma. RW
  13. Yes, for chits and giggles I take my PC and belly wart around to different DZs and thrill the crowds who haven't seen a round in the air. My daily gear is a Sigma Tandem and a Vector sport rig. [email protected] http://www.lawyerwebb.com
  14. It would ruin the ambiance of my OD Green Conventional Rig. R3s are bad enough. Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com
  15. My conventional rig has shot and a half capewells on it that can be difficult to operate sometimes. Does anyone have a set of R3 releases (preferably new) laying around that they'd sell? Russell Webb http://www.lawyerwebb.com [email protected]
  16. Just got word that my new Tandem Sigma 395 canopy will be delivered tomorrow. I'm replacing an EZ 425. Commentary from users of said canopy would be appreciated. Are there any used Sigma Systems for sale out there? Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com

  18. Any bored jumpers in Houston who want to consume beer and watch the Super Bowl on a reasonably big TV can come over. Russell Webb 713 426 5446 or 713 225 5932. Gotta call me so I can have enough consumables on hand. Kick Off is at 5:30 PM TODAY
  19. I'm very pleased at the number of and intelligence behind the responses to my post about tandem mains. I have experienced 3 line over malfunctions that resulted in a breakaway. There were 4 more that "fixed" themselves the more I let it spin. Pro packing and rush packing have been the culprit. I pack it myself once in a while, but it's always a flat pack. Causation is simple. Line gets to the side and gets swept in front of the nose that's face down on the carpet. This happens when the shaping of the canopy to bag width is done. I got rid of my six grommet slider, and still had some problems. Two that cleared and one that did not. Bill at RWS says flat packers do not have the problems. Russell Webb
  20. I posted this on wreck dot, but this group seems more sensible. I'm looking for anyone with experience jumping Vector EZ 425 canopies. I'd like feedback on your experiences, good or bad. Also, I'm considering a Sigma 370. Anyone have any comments about them?? Tanks Russell Webb, Houston
