  3. Hey, wanna thank u all for the great advice i've been getting from this forum. I just made my 3 s/l jump. I want a good book to read about skydiving. Something including, everything from jump preparation, to packing, to exits, to freefalls, canopy control,to landings, to emergency procedures. A book good for 1st time jumpers and veteran jumpers. Any suggestions on a good book? http://bodypilot.bounceme.net
  4. From what i've read the ram-air chute malfunction rate is supposed to be like 1 in 1000. From what i've learned talking to people at my DZ.. One instructor has made over 3000 jumps, and has had to cut away 3 times. Another I talked to said he's made over 6000 jumps!!! and has had to cut away 3 times. In my mind, practice your emergency procedures religiously. http://bodypilot.bounceme.net
  5. Hello, i'm a rookie skydiver. I've only got 3 jumps under my belt. With only 3 jumps, i'm completely relying on a complete stranger to pack my chute for me. How difficult is packing a chute? Would any of you experienced divers let a stranger pack your chute? How do I know they are compentent enough to pack my life in that bag?!?!? When should I begin learning to pack my own chute? http://bodypilot.bounceme.net
  6. I'm with schattenjaeger . This whole thread is just not right. I believe the rig needs to be buried just like the passenger was. http://bodypilot.bounceme.net
  7. Ok, my first jump was a tandem. So I can understand why a stable arch position ripcord pull is essential. Well, I just made my 3rd jump now. It was a static line jump. Well, when doing the static line, your not in a horizontal belly to earth postition. You don't have to be because the static line pulls the deployment back for you. My question is... 3 more jumps from now i'm responsible for pulling my own ripcord. How am i supposed to be in a belly to earth postition for my pilot chute to work properly. Will it be a different kind of exit? Instead of hanging from the strut, will i just jump of the landing gear to get in an arch position? Because you can't be in an feet to ground head to sky position for a pilot chute to work properly can u? http://bodypilot.bounceme.net
  8. Ok, i just made my 3rd jump which was a static line jump with a PRCP. On the ground the practicing was great. Arch thousand, Reach thousand, Pull thousand, Check Canopy. That ripcord handle couldn't have been in a more natural place. My hand went right to it immediatly. But after realeasing the strut... I searched frantically for that rip cord handle. What seemed like an eternaty was probably only a second or 2. But it really makes me scared about having to pull it all on my own 3 jumps from now. Anyone have and advice or something to make me feel better about the whole thing? http://bodypilot.bounceme.net
