Of course you should and the night life at Empuria is great too so make a holiday of it.
The only slight issue with the DZ is that it can get windy in the afternoon so keep AFF students on the ground.
The other big DZ in Spain is at Seville, it's a bit more open as it's not sat on the edge of town like Empuria is and they guarantee 15,000ft (4500m) each load.
But yep.. great idea! -
I've flown with my buckle undone in the tunnel and my G3 had no chance of coming off. I'm not entirely sure the 'undo the buckle' type cutaway systems would be really that effective if you needed to chop it. -
Good idea but you'll wear out pretty quickly flying static all the time. Mix it up a bit - there's a huge amount you can do back flying including back carving which will eventually lead you into head down carving plus transitions/layouts and other stuff.
Have fun -
I had a slammer in 2012 which damaged the stitching in the risers so check there too.
I'm glad you're okay. -
A friend of mine had a vortex container that they made the wrong size harness. Rather than adjusting it they made another one and sent it over. So no complaints from him. -
Skydive Spain gets my vote. It's very skydiver focused so if you're bringing significant others the Skydive Algarve will be the better option but the weather isn't always as consistent and they don't go all the way to 15k. -
Just use the tunnel supplied suits or are you wanting your kid to be a rockstar? -
I pulled a muscle connecting my tongue to my jaw by yawning

At your weight and height you'll easily be able to get a second hand suit for about 50-60 quid then spend the rest on jump tickets.. Once you've got a few more jumps and spent a bit more time in the sport you'll probably be better informed and had chance to look at what other's are using.
Good luck! -
14 footer. Like Basingstoke. -
You could ask Ewan Cowie. He's an AFF instructor who's got a tunnel coach rating and is in the tunnel regularly. For general flying there is Cez, Matt Mitchell and Josh Bennett. -
Wow. That's really good you're backflying as there's 2 things you can try that are low speed moves and will really help your dynamic flying later on
There's back carving in which the instructor holds your head and leading arm. You will then learn to carve around the tunnel with your head being the stationary point . This doesn't require much effort but as it's low speed you really have to learn to feel the air and fly your body. At higher speeds you'll increase your body angle then boom! You're head down inface carving ..
The second one is where you transition back to belly over your head which becomes the back layout . Again it's great fun. You can try the other way too (belly to back over your head). Break the higher speed sit drills with these to mix it up a bit, give your muscles a rest and learn some new skills . It's exciting stuff -
Depends how tunnel fit you are and what you're doing. Static head down is a killer. Dynamic flying not so much. I'd do no more than 1 hour a day split into 3 sessions. One in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. So 20 mins in each session of 2x10 minutes and leave at least an hour between. For each 10 mins do no more than 2 minute rotations. Ideally 1min 40s.
For static flying we do 1min rotations. For dynamic flying we do 2 mins max
If you try flying when you're tired you don't get as much out of it and you end up flying just for the sake of it and not getting the best value for money out of it

Similar. Just make the centre of rotation your head. As you increase wind speed you can tilt your head to the tunnel wall and then boom.. Outface
Edited to add.. Try having your arms backwards rather than forwards. I'll see if I can dig out some footage. -
Have a go at belly carving. Basically the aim is to rotate 360 degrees or more with your head in the centre of the tunnel. It's great fun and is a good foundation for dynamic flying flying. -
It's amazing just how hard good sitflying is. Double head up docks and a solid outface sit carve take some time to perfect. In a lot of ways head down flying is easier .
To the OP: it's always worth continuing practising sitflying even when you are doing hd or dynamic flying. -
One of my jumping buddies has a Vortex and it looks pretty solid. It looks better stitched together than my wings which has had to go back to the rigger twice even though it's only 2 years old. -
Here you go, this being an iFly (branded Airkix in the UK) unit with the usual disclaimer that it's early days... and until they pour concrete it's still an announcement.
Hello all,
I normally use glasses and am looking to get some sports sunglasses with inserts. I've seen the Adidas Evil Eye and Evil Eye Pro. I'm primarily going to use these for cycling but if I could also use them for jumping, mainly freeflying, then that would be a welcome bonus.
Does anyone have any experience of these? Your views would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam.
base698As well as solid head down fliers with weak sitfly skills.
It seems everyone wants to progress straight onto HD as soon as they get sitfly sorted.. then dynamic. Closing a mixed round is hard... Flipping down a solid sitline is also difficult but also a ton of fun
This has been mentioned before but the backfly position is the default freeflying bail out position. Some of my freeflying friends got it nailed in less than 20 mins and then went on to sit/HD etc.
Non-ifly tunnels are a bit more relaxed - Bedford in the UK for instance are way more chilled about this. So are the hurricane factory tunnels in Prague and Slovakia.
But yeah.. it's frustrating to be told you can't do what you want in there.

30€ a month for a 3rd party liability insurance is at least 40 times more expensive. If its 65€ a month is ridicilous.
I Wouldnt be suprised if the DZ is skimming at least half of this.
Ask the packers how much they get paid vs how much you pay for a pack job...
DuttonIt'll have to match your Liquid Sky suit and your Cookie G3 helmet.
This... And for bonus points you need matching skate shoes too.
Should I travel abroad for a world class AFF experience?
