  1. I made all my jumps on my Sabre2 170. Being out of the sport 2 years, should i go with a bigger canopy or stay with the 170
  2. Promised my wife i would take 2 years off to watch our baby grow and that 2 years has come and gone. Getting ready to get back to altitude. 150 jumps, 0 jumps in 2 years 3 months, prior gear was Javelin, Sabre2-170, Raven reserve, cypress. Was looking at another Sabre2-170 or Pilot 169. Running about 190 out the door. I feel confident i can fly these canopies safely but wanted some input from our veterans out there. I'm eager to get back up but want to do it safely. Thanks
  3. Getting out of the sport for now so i'm selling my remaining item. First is a 03-2000 Javelin J2 C-19, mini risirs 300 jumps, Oxygen custom painted helmet 300 jumps, Birdman Pantz, XL never jumped. I'm 6'3 170 lbs and everything fits me nice and snug. What are fair prices for each item. Thanks for the help. My pics exceed the 120 KB size so i could not post pics but if you can help i can e-mail anyone the pics. Thanks again
  4. Whats the difference between a 1 pin and a 2 pin cypress
  5. Had this same person try to buy my main and cypress but i never responded back. It had the exact same wording as this response
  6. I currently have a Sabre2 and i was wondering what type of flare the Safire2 and Pilot have compared to the Sabre2. Also any flight comparison between the three mains would be helpful also. Thanks.
  7. What can one expect to get on a Sabre2 170, 196 jumps, manufactured July 2002, no rips or tears and lines still nice and white
  8. Whats a fair asking price of the follwing items Pro Track Pro Dytter FT-50 Vladiball with instructions-never used 1 pair Gatorz glasses/silver frame-black lenses
  9. Well, i've had to make a very hard decision but i decided to go ahead and sell the gear and devote my time off to my upcoming daughter. I will take a couple of years off but i will be back and i'll just buy new gear when that time comes. I do not think its safe for me or the people i jump with to be that ocassional jumper. Jumping is something i need to do very frequently and i dont want to jeopordize myself and my fellow jumpers. I want to thank all that responed to my post and all those that jumped with me over the years, its been an awesome ride. Thank you Skydive San Marcos for the training and support over the years. This is not the end......I shall return to the sky we all love. Blue skies
  10. Thats a great idea. How much could i get for the cypress. I just recently got the 4 year check done. "IF" i take a couple of years off, what concerns should i have with my rig when i return to jumping?
  11. I jump at Skydive San Marcos and i have jumped thier rentals before and i know they are pretty tough on safety
  12. He also has to ask himself what "occasional jump" means? Every 30 days? Or every 3 months? If there is too much time between the jumps, then it becomes unsafe. My thought were a worse case scenerio is jumping at least once a month but nothing over 2 months. Not the greatest scenerio
  13. Looking for so0me thoughts for a situation i have. I currently only have 125 jumps. I have not jumped but maybe a dozen times in the last 18 months. Work is the big killer with my jumping (weekend work). My wife and i are having our first child in february which i know will limit my jumping even more. I have been wondering weather i should sell my rig or just keep it. It drives me nuts to see my rig in the closet not being used. My thoughts were because i will not be jumping very much that i could just rent when i can jump and just sell my rig to someone who could really get some jumps out of it. It a good rig, Javelin J2, Sabre2 170, Raven 181 and a cypress, all purchased in 2000. I've also thought of maybe just taking a break for a few years and then coming back. Jumping is something i wont stop. The sky will still be there and i can always buy new gear. I know there are alot of new people in the sport looking for good equipement and if i can provide a complete ready to jump and safe rig, my thoughts were why should i let my rig suffer in the closet. Just looking for some thought on people who have maybe had the same situation as me and also looking to input on those who to several year off and then came back. I feel that if i dont sell my rig that i'm cheating a fellow skydiver out of some good gear that he/she could get good use out of but then i feel i'm cheating myself if i do sell it. Its been hard to decide. Thanks for any and all responses.
  14. Looking for opinions from current and past owners of this rig or anyone with experience with this rig. How do they compare with other name brand rigs.
  15. Looking for the fair price on the following 2000 Javelin J2, hip and chest rings, pillow handles, black and red tye dye, no damage or scrapes, 275 jumps 2000 Sabre 2 170, black and red, 225 jumps, packed indoors, no damage 2000 Raven-M 181 reserve, no jumps 2000 Cypress, 4 year check and batteries 1 year ago, no fires Looking what is a fair price for all as a set
  16. My wife is currently 4 months pregnant and to make a long story short, i have seriously hisitated from jumping because of the risk involved. I've wanted a child for a long time and i want to see my first born. I'm on here daily checking out what people are talking about and i check the "incident" forum daily and i think i may be getting too involved with the "incident" forum where it kinda makes me think. I review EP several times a week when i'm not jumping regularly and i know that if the situation arised i'm ready to perform as needed. Looking for thoughts of parents out there that have had the same problem, and i know there are several. Did it make you think or did it not affect you at all? Thanks
  17. May is a great month, dont get me wrong! The rain is so unpredictable this year, who knows what next year holds? May it is then. Gotta hope for the best. I hope i dont drive 1500 miles and then rains the whole time. We shall see what hapens. Looking forward to it Ed. Ed

  19. Great! It may be nice in May, but it May not! I'll tell you just before you get here. Be safe. Ed What month is the best to come and jump
  20. After a long layoff recovering from a car accident, i finally got back to the DZ to get back in the air. After about 2 hours of watching/observing and getting rid of butterflies and nerves i got back up. Damn good instructor on the jump with me, all went good with docks and all. It was amazing after i finally got out the door how it seemed like just last week is when i did my last jump, not 9 months ago. It all cam back in a flash. Once in the air, it answered my question "Why in the hell am i doing this again? It feels so awesome to finally be back.
  21. Any good web sites to check into the different lenses?
  22. I recently purchased a new Sony HC40 from a place going out of business, cheap price couldnt pass up. In another 150/200 jumps i will start flying camera with an FF2 setup. I will just be filming "jumps" in general. No tandem, AFF or anything. What is the suggested wide angle lens i should use with that camera?
  23. He is one guy. Skydivers are a group. Statistics generated from a group are not directly applicable or comparable to an individual. I would expect that person (and every individual person we examine) to either be 100% alive or 100% dead at every sampling. (Let's leave persistent vegetative states out of this - they clear themselves up sooner or later.) But skydivers as a whole have neither a 100% nor a 0% survival rate.[/reply Zarqawi is the leader of the insurgents just like we have a top guy at USPA. Our losses at DZ's are a lot less than Zarqawi's losses. Not relative.
