  4. Being someone who's life was saved by a helmet, I think the whole ".don't want to live as a quad..." argument is bunk. My neck has been fine for 650 skydives since a dollar size chunk was taken out of my helmet instead of my head. It was more likely that I would have been living as a vegetable without paralysis without the helmet in the crash...

  12. It is pretty simple. The battery is good to the end of the month 2 years from installation. The maintenance is due +or-90 days from the mfg. date. If either of these is going to expire within the pack cycle, it either needs to be packed without it or taken care of. Since it is an FAR to maintain them, to jump without it in date hangs the pilot's ass and the rigger's ass out in the wind for the FAA to kick it. So really, it is pretty unfair to the pilot (regardless of what the load organizer thinks) to jump with it out of its maintenace cycle.

  16. Definately a dumb ass. The bike doesn't lubricate properly if it isn't moving. Reving it cold at a standstill is about as bad not keeping enough oil in it and reving it. I don't think his engine is going to last long or his living arrangement.

  17. I don't think Charles is as forum savy as the rest of us and maybe the better for it. I was in Monroe working as a rigger when she was hurt and I assembled Charles' rig. He is quite legit and easily Joan's best friend in this life. Enough of a friend to stay and care for her until she was stabilized and on a copter when he would make a visit to Emergency for his own injuries shortly after. So if there is any question of his legitimacy, I'll back it with mine.

    Glad to hear Joan is doing better, she has been in my thoughts since leaving.

  20. I hate to sound caring, but your response might the tackiest thing I've read in the history of the forums. You are certainly overstating the obvious by saying she should have had insurance. The point of the post is to raise money for her children, not to discourage it because their mother made some poor choices. The insensitivity of your remark makes me ashamed to be in this sport and use your products.

  21. Totally agree with Scotty on this! Parachute parts are replaceable, lives are not.

    It is worth noting that this incident claimed a well seasoned, very current skydiver of well over 4000 jumps. Trying to catch a freebag or main is an unsafe practice period! There is no level of proficiency that makes it otherwise.

  25. Yes, I agree with keep the blade flush against the grommet for ease of pull and less stress on the blade. However, I noticed on the CWO3-01 bulletin on test #1 the pin is seated all the way up to the shoulder (I meant shoulder rather than heel when I wrote the poll, my bad).
