  1. Okay this question etc has been asked to death but anyways - here it is ... Today in london i went to the outdoor adventure expo, every sport was represented from scuba - paragliding, absailing etc etc ( sure you get the idea) but as per usual no skydiving... Now the question is this - we would like to see the sport become more mainstream( I don't mean so every tom dick and harry comes and invades the dz with YABO egos etc - but I mean so that the man on the street is more understanding and thus possible corporate sponsorships will become available (with understanding comes appreciation and respect) - so that ppl don't think we are suicidal etc ( yes i know the Whuffo's dont really matter - but still fro the development of the sport) - it in my opinion should be represented positvley. Anyway the point is this, why did BPA not have a stand at the expo? Just an observation .... like i said in the beginning I suppose this has been discussed to death, but would like to hear from the powers that be ( head honchos and marketing ppl) Cheers Peace Be Da Journey

  5. Hi 1stly I am not a base jumper - but am curious as to whether it is legal to jump in norway or not. I assume yes - if you are not gonna land on private property and again assume the mountain ranges are public property. I would also assume that it is legal if you get clearance from authorities - ie if it is a national park etc? ( but you know what they say about assumptions) The reason I am asking is that I need a visa to enter the country and want to apply for a multi entry visa - I have been dared by my friends to tell them i wanna base jump - when asked the innevitable question of why i am entering the country and why i want multiple entries - which I want to say - just to see the expression. But obviously do not want to ruin my chances of getting visa. ( sorry if this is a "dumb" question - but curosity has gotten the better of me ) Peace Be Da Journey

  10. I just read this article on bbc.co.uk Swazi king chooses another wife Mswati chooses a new wife every year Africa's last absolute monarch, King Mswati III, has chosen a 16-year-old beauty queen as his latest bride-to-be. Where is the cost effectivness in that ? link to article http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/3630800.stm Peace Be Da Journey
  11. Who here has read Bill Bryson's " A short History of nearly everything" ?? I am in the proccess of reading it - and WOW it is amazingly interresting. How much of it have you been able to understand? the only part I am comming unstuck on is that there are so many important people to remember and when he refers back to them you think "HUH" Started on the Weeekend and on page 200 already

  14. Instead of having a go at the Americans, I think we should help them out. The best way to overcome their problems would be to return them to Britain, and let have a civilised (note spelling - no z) system of government. Therefore, I hereby issue this notice of the revocation of independance of the United States of America and return to British rule. TO THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchial duties over all states, commonwealths and other territories. Except Utah, which she does not fancy. Your new prime minister (The rt. hon. Tony Blair,MP for the 97.85% of you who have until now been unaware that there is a world outside your borders) will appoint a minister for America without the need for elections. Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire will be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed. To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect: 1. You should look up "revocation" in the Oxford English Dictionary. Then look up "aluminium". Check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it. Generally, you should raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. Look up "vocabulary". Using the same twenty seven words interspersed with filler noises such as "like" and "you know" is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. Look up "interspersed". 2. There is no such thing as "US English". We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. 3. You should learn to distinguish the English and Australian accents. It really isn't that hard. 4. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as the good guys. 5. You should relearn your original national anthem, "God Save The Queen", but only after fully carrying out task 1. We would not want you to get confused and give up half way through. 6. You should stop playing American "football". There is only one kind of football. What you refer to as American "football" is not a very good game. The 2.15% of you who are aware that there is a world outside your borders may have noticed that no one else plays "American" football. You will no longer be allowed to play it, and should instead play proper football. Initially, it would be best if you played with the girls. It is a difficult game. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which is similar to American "football", but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like nancies). We are hoping to get together at least a US rugby sevens side by 2005. 7. You should declare war on Quebec and France, using nuclear weapons if they give you any merde. The 98.85% of you who were not aware that there is a world outside your borders should count yourselves lucky. The Russians have never been the bad guys. "Merde" is French for "shit". 8. July 4th is no longer a public holiday. November 8th will be a new national holiday, but only in England. It will be called "Indecisive Day". 9. All American cars are hereby banned. They are crap and it is for your own good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean. 10. Please tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us crazy. Thank you for your cooperation.

  18. since you bought it up -inadvertantly - Do animals have a soul ?? I say YES with out a doubt - would a clone have a soul ?? if you believe in souls and by proxy believ in G-d - then do you not think G-d would give clones a soul even if they are not created "naturally" ? don't wanna turn this into a religious thread - and we are only talking hypathetically. Peace Be Da Journey
  19. A US company offering a pet cloning service has successfully cloned two cats: Tabouli and Baba Ganoush ( ) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3548210.stm This reminds me of movie - 6th day ( arnold swarneiger - can't spell his name) anyway very bad ide - IMHO - wish ppl wouldnt play G-D with animal or human life opinions from any one ??? Peace Be Da Journey
  20. a couple of my friends and myself went on a boys night out to a local bar/club in london. quite a pretencious vibe and everyone is there with sexual tension high. anyways there where a group of girls (4/5) that where possibly the most amazingly gorgeous women that I have ever seen (must have been models) anyways - that brings us onto the question and debate we had last night. would you rather go to a bar/club where there are a few ultra hot model type women ( or for the girls -Guys)and mostly plain average people for the rest. or a club where there are more average - good looking women ( but nothing to make your tongue hit the floor ) Just curious what others think ?? Peace Be Da Journey
  21. Yea I am keen to meet up with the london ppls - Peace Be Da Journey
  22. I have considered that - and at this point living in england have only done 2 jumps in 4 months ( weather aznd other stuff) I guess I am kinda feeling despondant because if i sell my gear i feear i may quite - and i don't really wanna / but on the other hand i also feel that i ma hanging onto gear i am not using. *does that make sense* Peace Be Da Journey
  23. yea will phone them lata btw only mamaged to do 2 jumps since I met you and adam - is that sad or what ?!?! granted I have been busy touring and stuff but - i am starting to miss the sky desperatley esp since my friends in SA are jumping like demons Peace Be Da Journey
  24. Okay this is a long story - kinda hard to put in words as well - will try my best - if you get lost then i will clarify as needed: I am a weekend warrior - always have been and thats all i wanna be - in south africa did my 2 max 3 jumps ( very rarely) every weekend - jumped with my friends and loved it. I bought my own gear a while ago ( teardrop container + hornet main) anyways I recently (4 months ago) arrived in london to work and travel and bought my rig with me in the hope that i would jump - I did meet up with some cool ppl from DZ.com and I went to deff dz's with them -became a member of BPSA and member of headcorn. now the thing is i have only done 2 jumps in the uk ( partly because socially i have been doing other things on weekend) also because weather so terrible - i feel i dont wanna mission off to DZ if weather is bad as I am quite shy and feel "out" this is my issue i know but i am sure some of u have felt this way b4. I can not jump my rig anymore - because of BPSA rules(no cypress) which i accept - and can not afford to buy a cypress now anyways because i wanna travel. and my reserve now needs to be repacked. QUESTION AFTER ALL THAT is do i try sell my rig and do one or 2 jumps on club gear when i get a chance ? do i hold onto my gear and take it home with me , when i go back to SA. Basically I still wanna skydive for fun and just am not sure if it is worthwhile to hang onto a rig I may not jump for a while if ever again *sorry told u this would be a bit of a mashup* opinions please - Peace Be Da Journey
