  9. Quote

Sometimes a bigger tunnel just means you are going to build up more speed before you auger into a wall

    Quote

If someone new suddenly punches out into a track, or kicks off a wall really hard they are going to beat the spotter to the other side, usually with ugly results

    Quote

If you think you _need_ 16ft to solo belly-fly in, maybe you should work on fine-tuning your skills a bit.

Okay Matt, i just collected a few points from your posts, and we've gone from newbies tracking into the wall to solo belly fly, So i've kinda lost track of the point of this conversation!!
Solo flying is actually really good fun in the Bodyflight Bedford, Largest and most powerful wind Tunnel in the world, you can actually fly around the tunnel, you can do proper forward, backward and side movement, using a wider range of body movements to accomplish this.

All i'm saying is you shouldn't comment on something without knowledge of it, especially not on here (as i have seen many times before) as people will make comments.

If you're ever in the UK, come fly with us,

  10. Matt, you appear to get angry very easily, and if you read what Paul wrote, your reaction was slightly uncalled for.

With in experienced flyers i.e beginners, the instructors hold on to them pretty much all the time, unless they appear stable enough to let go of, and when they do, they are never further than a few inches away, so getting hold of the student to stop them hitting the wall is pretty damn easy. So that 'punches into a track' isn't gonna happen.

in my opinion, and i realise you have a problem with opinions, i think you should first visit Bodyflight, and then make another comment,

  11. Really bad at guessing wind speeds,
If i recall, the forecast said 6mph, and i checked that on o2 WAP just before we arrived,

    As for the wind direction,
If you stand with your back to the access gate, looking up the path, it was blowing in that direction, from across the water.
    Does that make sense?

  12. The skies were clear and full of stars, the moon was almost full, visibility was perfect, could see Canary Wharf clearly in the distance,
There was a very light calm wind, and it was absolutely freezing!

However, can't see how the weather could haver any effect on what happened.

When i said 'something didn't feel right' it was something in my mind, nothing else,

  13. The BBC have updated their news report and named Paul,

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/4813134.stm

Really not sure about the wording 'found dead'
Makes it sound like he was just left there for someone to find,

I was on the ground when he jumped,
and apart from the last split second when i turned away, i saw everything,
I checked him over, I made the 999 call (at 23:50 on Saturday 11th March 2006), I led the first two Policemen right to him, and the others all followed on. That's why i think the word 'found' is inapproriate.

It's taken me a long time to write anything about this on here, but i was one of the two men with Paul at the time.

Not really a BASE jumper as i have only jumped once and i walked down from this object because something didn't feel right, but be safe out there guys.

  17. No you can't do that,
Sat Nav is wrong, it leads you to Mount Pleasant Road which is about 2 miles out!
You have to input 'Twinwoods Road' on your Sat Nav
