  3. Does anyone have a Canon 10D mounted on a 2K Composites FF2? If so I'd appreciate you letting me know how you've mounted it - on top, extended plate over forehead & mounted upside down, etc. Thanks Ed
  4. Hi If you put "editing software" in the search field at the bottom of the forum page (searching "this forum" i.e. photography and video) you'll get lots of info on previous discussions about the types of software used. That should answer some of your questions. All the best Ed
  5. Hi Wayne there is nothing to stop you but it would be a good idea to talk it through with your CCI Ian (if you jump mostly at Peterlee as your profile suggests). Alternatively Dave Mitchell, Bryn or Chris at Peterlee will give you good advice (on jumping camera anyway). Ed
  6. Hi Spencer, the following is taken from a post previously submitted by Quade (the moderator of this forum) talking about the Canon D60. The process also applies to your 10D with 9 frames in buffer instead of 8. Hope this helps (and hope you don't mind me quoting you Paul)... "The typical flow for the image right now on a digital camera is imager>buffer>processing>storage. On some of the very early cameras, once the buffer had a shot in it, you had to wait until the buffer was entirely cleared before you could start taking photos again. On the more modern designs (Canon D60 for example, which holds 8 shots) you can start taking photos again as soon as there is enough room in the buffer to do so. If there is room for one shot, then you can take the one shot. The time it takes for the ENTIRE buffer of 8 shots to clear is something like 4 or 5 seconds. So, 8 frames at 3 fps, wait 5 seconds and you can shoot another 8 frames at 3 fps. OR, shoot your first 8 frames at 3 fps, wait a couple of seconds and shoot off another 3 or 4. OR just press and hold the trigger and it'll shoot off 8 frames at 3 fps and then continue to shoot off 1 frame every second or so. As you can see, this isn't really a very big limitation. Typically, I'm laying on the trigger for exit, waiting a couple of seconds for something else to happen and firing short bursts when I think things are getting interesting. Since my storage card will hold about 100 shots, I'm not too worried about running out. I'll typically shoot about 40 shots in a skydive and this still allows me to do back-to-back loads if required. As for exposures, ASA, ect. . . . pretty much everything you already know about photography still applies."
  7. Just in case anyone is looking for a PC105 in the UK - I've just picked one up for £600, they also have PC101s for the same price. If anyone is interested I have the details, email me off board & I'll forward them to you. Ed
  8. Can anyone let me know if they've managed to get a good price for a Sony PC101 or 105 in the UK, and from where - mail order, online, high street, etc. Best I've managed to find on a PC105 is £690 incl vat online. Any help much appreciated ed
  9. Your instructors obviously have confidence in your abilities to handle this canopy. I personally would wait until I had a few more jumps on the 135 and was more confident, if you choose to jump the 120 I would suggest you do it when there is some wind and not on a nil wind day. Having said all of this I don't know you or your ability, your instructors do, I'm simply suggesting you err on the side of caution. Safe jumping ed
  10. Hi Cindy, you say 'everyone' at your dz thinks this canopy is a good choice for you but have you asked the instructors at your dz, they should know you and your ability and should offer you the best advice. I'd be interested to know what you've been reading that has freaked you out? Try this link to pd's website which relates to wing loading on the sabre and gives pd's recommendations http://www.performancedesigns.com/sabre.htm At the end of the day, if you are not happy and confident in the canopy you're jumping, stay safe and don't jump it (at least until your confidence and ability builds), hope that helps ed
  11. thanks for the responses guys I guess its splashing out on a digital stills camera at some point as well then. Ed
  12. Is anyone taking stills from video footage (via premiere or the like) and if so is the quality good enough for customers (if printed out on photo printer with decent paper)?? I've been looking at buying a PC105 and wonder if this would be suitable. I mostly shoot tandem and fun jump video and was hoping to increase the revenue from tandem vids by offering stills shots from the video footage (can't afford a stills camera as well as a new 105 or 101). I can't find anything that relates to this when searching the forum so any help would be much appreciated
  13. Hi all, I've tried searching but cannot find an answer to this and Sony haven't responded to my emails --- can the manual focus on the pc101 or pc105 be locked on? If so does this hold once the camera has been switched off then on again? Any help much appreciated. noods
