  1. One word will sum up a lot in this sport, "RELAX"! Find that happy place and just relax. I am still nervous when I get in the plane but when that door opens I am all business (that is business in a fun and exciting way of course). Be safe and blue skies!
  2. To me there are no natural skydivers just those that are confident and can adapt quickly to the unfamiliar and not so natural sport of jumping out of a plane. It has taken only 22 jumps for me to get my license but I constantly read up during the week when I was not jumping, learning constantly so that when I did jump I was ready for it and knew what I had to do. If you are dedicated to the sport you will constantly be learning but you are not alone with failing that much. You should be proud that you got back up into that airplane and continued to jump because most people would give up after failing. Be safe and blue skies. DT
  3. I do not think you could give better advice than that. Constant learning is one of the things I really love about the sport. If anyone out there thinks that they know everything then they must be worng. One of the first things I was told this weekend is to not become complacent and continue to learn as much as I can. I will hold that advice close because the more you know the safer you will be.
  4. Just an awesome feeling. Also nice to know you do not have to pay for student jumps anymore and worry to much about 14 mile per hour winds as your limit eventhough I am going to put a cap of 20 mile per hour gusts on my jumping. Congrats to you as well.
  5. So after 4 months, 22 skydives (17 freefall), a few grand for jumps and my first rig I am done. I got my A-license this past weekend and it was a blast. I ended up doing two check dives, the first one I did everything great but just could not get to the other to form a four way. Frustration set in and I waited about 2 hours before I made my final jump. On my final check dive I briefed a northern jump run, spotted us right on target, sat in the V to do a diving exit and left the plane. I almost had an off the hill formation but missed it, once I got stable I tracked into the formation, docked and had the greatest feeling in the world rush through me. I pulled and let out a scream they heard for miles, I was just overwhelmed with so many emotions. Thanks to all at MRVS for everything through my student status and thanks to John, Marc and Tom for going on my check dive it meant a lot to me. I look forward to many many more skydives with an awesome dropzone. Blue skies to and the beer is on me next weekend.
  6. Was just wondering if anyone out there could give me some advice on doing front and back loops? I have tried twice so far and come out of each with a roll and one I ended up on my back. I have no problems with chipping or hover control and stability but cannot seem to get the loops correctly. Thanks
  7. Welcome to a great world and wonderful community of people. Keep jumping. Be safe and blue skies!
  8. Welcome to the most exciting world you will ever know. Your life before skydiving will seem so dull and boring once you really start getting into it. My only advice is be safe and keep making jumps on a consistent basis. Be safe and blue skies!
  9. It is a relatively small DZ owned and operated by the DZO. The airport is 100% dedicated to skydiving but it is quite a nice DZ with 160 acres of unobstructed landing area. Thanks for the warm welcome.
  10. I see you are from Gold Coast Skydiving. I will be in Mississippi sometime later this year how far away from Biloxi are you located? I will be in biloxi for about 2 weeks and of course by that time should be off student status so I cannot go 2 weeks without jumping. Thanks to all for all the advice, I know skydiving is a constant learning process but tell me if there is a better way to learn out there. Blue skies everybody!
  11. Ya addiction is the best word for it. MRVS is open mostly weekends but the DZO does open it up during the week for special occasions or if you get enough people together for a few good loads. All a person can do is ask. The way things are going right now I should be done with student status by the end of July (hopefully)!
  12. I just started my skydiving life in March of this year with Missouri River Valley Skydiving.
