I don't understand why you would tell people not to check their canopy, its always been a part of student training, it prevents pilot shoot hesitation (which does happen) and if you do have a malfunction you give up time and altitude that you need to deal with it. I would almost bet that the majority of jumpers that read this are students and feel its irresponsible to tell them not to check their canopy.
