  1. It is slightly different, but I had a bad experience at a DZ that I like to go to for the location. It is just a small hangar with a portapotty outside. I used to work at a DZ, so I understand the instructors talking about hot girls that are going to jump, but they kept it to themselves. It was away from any customers. However, I went with my wife who was my girlfriend at the time, for her second jump there. The TI was being very direct and blunt toward her when they were under canopy... Telling her how hot she was and asking her if he's inappropriately touched her enough. She waited to tell me all this after we left. If it would have been kept to him and the staff, that's cool. You can think what you want. But when you are making people, especially your customers, feel uncomfortable and what I consider sexual harassment... I will not be back.
  2. Mine was going to the dz knowing I was going to jump, cause I worked there as the pilot. First two were no problem. The others, until I hit freefall (IAD), my stomach twisted as soon as I got off the phone to see if I could come jump. Getting out wasn't too bad, but after my first "full" skydive, I was good. Still feel a little wierd if I haven't jumped in a while.
  3. With respect to landing, do you need to increase your flare height slightly and use "stronger" inputs to compensate for the decrease in lift, or does your increase in speed make up for that? Yes. You will go faster, so inputs will have a stronger effect, but because of the extra speed, you may feel that the controls require more strength (or not, depending on the specific canopy, wingload, etc...) And, Ryoder: ah ha! So... everything should be about the same. The increased speed from the decrease in DA will increase lift to normal. Controls should require the same input because of the same lift being generated... it's just happening faster. By stronger I meant that you would need more input than normal, but the extra speed should compensate. That is of course assuming everything equals out.

  5. It pertains to density altitude. Anything High, Hot, and Humid decreases performance. The air isn't as dense in those situations and therefor decreases lift. You'll need someone with a better understanding how it relates to canopies to explain how to compensate for it.
  6. Nope.. but I am betting you think 150 MPH in freefall is fast Oh my, this just got kinda fun. Finally, this made me laugh after going through the last few pages trying to keep up. On another note, I'm a 26 yr old "kid" who doesn't know crap and will take advice from anyone that is recognized around the dz as a good skydiver. I might not agree with something they tell me, but I realize there is a lot to learn, and I'm willing to try what someone, that should have respect, tells me. If they come up to me offering advice, why blow them off? That is free advice I didn't have to pay for and that I am very appreciative. Definitely beer later. It's also cool to be on the old guys' good side cause at my DZ, they usually are bellyflyers, while the younger experienced guys are freeflyers. So I'll jump with the old guys and let them constructively criticize and teach. Thank you old guys.
  7. I worked at Skydive Airtight and loved it there. Really chill, laid back, and friendly. Great view with the lake. We jump a few 182s. My buddy works at Oklahoma Skydive Center in cushing. He likes it there. They jump a 206 and 402. I haven't jumped at Skydive Tulsa so I can't speak for it.
  8. All I have to say is I wish there were chicks like you at our dz... It would make my time in the plane MUCH better.
