  1. Welcome! I'm actually planning on going to Skydive Spaceland this summer. My mom also plans on doing her first tandem then as well. 18k jumps are a blast! And unfortunately my local DZ won't go above ~13k :P
  2. I was a gymnast for around 13 years, and everyone pretty much hit the nail on the head with the previous comments. It helped with things like body awareness, and being comfortable flipping and rolling, but other than that skydiving is a pretty different feeling.
  3. Welcome! It's cool to see another military jumper in VA. I've been meaning to go down to Skydive Orange for a while now, but work has had other ideas for me! I think they use a Skyvan out at Skydive Orange which compared to a C-130 is like a slow, small, box version of a C-130 :P It's a good aircraft to jump from though.
  4. For any military jumpers you'll appreciate this. Here's some guy freeflying a ruck, and military tunnel rig like it's nothing. Just goes to show that if you can fly your body, you can fly anything! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBqxtXqLx4E
  5. I've never heard that song from her before, thanks for sharing!
  6. I got my license from military free fall, and didn't start jumping at civilian drop zones until just recently. I'm looking to jump at Skydive Orange here soon, I was supposed to go yesterday, but it got weathered out. So far the only civilian DZ I've jumped at is Delmarva in Delaware...that was a bit of a drive! I've actually got a few friends that live near suffolk, I'll have to go try that DZ next time I go visit them.
  7. Awesome, I'm also new to the VA jump scene. I may have to check out that drop zone :)
  8. Just found this forum the other day, and already have found some incredible information. I'm only sorry I didn't find it sooner! Can't wait to see what else I can find here :)
