  1. Sweet! Did you go to the tunnel in Lone Tree?
  2. Never been to Mile Hi, although I have been to Littleton CO. and the indoor tunnel in CO. I live in Australia dude Oh man!!! I think I better just keep my mouth shut and pay closer attention here!!! . I'm an idiot but I do look forward to reading posts from ya man! Sorry for all the stupid questions.....
  3. Mt AFF1 was nearly 10 years ago now, I still remember it clearly, other than the initial opening of the door it didn't phase me much. It took me 7 jumps to actually "get" skydiving. Now at 1200 jump it much more about trying to improve my limited skill Aw man, I'm such a noob! I didn't notice that the original post was 2002 I think and that yes, you have 1200 jumps and class E!!! I'm sorry! Still jump at Mile-Hi?
  4. Thanks guys for the response! Yes, I'm kicking around the idea about doing a tandem jump before I start AFF, hence the reason I posted here. I wanted to see what other people think and all. I was wondering also, what other extreme sports other people have done before skydiving and all?
  5. Thanks for the advice! Though I don't understand what you mean by whenever I achieve a first to let someone know? I guess it's something I'll figure out soon enough, eh? Thanks again for responding!
  6. Hey congrats on getting so close to getting your A license! I see that you've done your jumping at Mile-Hi? How was the school? How were the instructors? I am scheduled and registered to do my first AFF level at Mile-Hi May 26. I'm very excited and thinking of moving that date up by two weeks even. But I was wondering if you'd share your AFF experience with Mile-Hi? Hope to see you at the DZ! Jeremy
  7. How's everyone doing? Well, I'm new to skydiving and I have been wanting to do this for years. I finally made the choice to just do it, I'm not getting any younger. So May 26 is my level 1 and I'm hoping to progress to earning my A class license one day and if I become good enough, I'd like to be able to use a squirrel suit and all. However, I am very interested in so many things that skydivers get to do that I'd like to try it all as I learn! I'm super excited to start my new sport! Please feel free to offer me any advice you have as I definitely want to learn even now. I have been on the USPA site studying the SIMS and I understand it's nothing like actually jumping, but I figure any information is good information to try and be familiarized with the lingo that I'll have to learn quickly at level 1. Have a good one everyone!
  8. Congrats!!!!! I'm hoping to soon be there too! What was it like for you to do the level 1 jump? He does that compare to now?
  9. Thanks everyone for the replies! Could someone explain the term "environment" more specifically? Is it the air moving around a skydiver at 120 mph that takes people by surprise? What would be most comparable thing to the skydiving environment in your opinion? As far as the gear goes, I will be sure to speak with my instructors about gear. I was thinking of buying my own helmet soon after my first few jumps because I personally don't like wearing helmets that I don't know who wore them before and all. I know, pretty lame but that's just me. However, I'm very excited to start my training, I've been on the USPA site reading and trying to understand the online ground school just to get familiarized with terminology and what's expected from a skydiver. I do understand that the reading I've been doing doesn't replace going through the actual school and all, but it's the best I can do to familiarize myself with everything. Thanks again for all the information and opinions you all are providing!
  10. Hey everyone! Well, this is my first post and all. I am going to be a new student at the local AFF school in one month. Skydiving is something I've always wanted to do. My questions is this, do most students do at least one tandem before they do AFF school? And those that have done a tandem jump, on average do better than those who haven't? In your opinions, should a student buy some gear to use during and after their school such as an altimeter, helmet and goggles? Or do most schools/instructors advise not to buy your own gear because the school wants students to use their gear? Thanks for the responses!
