Crew Returns to Skydive Twin Cities! Now What?
tenbux_rpn replied to skyjumpenfool's topic in Canopy Relative Work
Sorry to resurrect an old thread - I just wanted to share that I ran across this post, and decided to give it a shot. It's been a lot of fun I found that a 2oz total weight gives a good descent rate for a canopy loaded at ~1.3 - we've done it with Storms and Sabre2s. A good starter technique is to setup wide and a little low, then float up on it on a straight-in approach. Flying tighter is more challenging. As Walt noted, getting it caught in your lines is no problem at that wing loading. The nice thing about using the biodegradable flagging tape vs pvc is that it's not as slippery, so if you manage to get some tail wrapped around something accessible on a bad catch, the ball doesn't slide off -
I did my first CRW jump about a month ago, and I'm dying to do some more. Looks like there will be a lot of experienced folks there - would someone with low numbers be able to squeeze in? :-)

I got a Pulse 170 (WL ~1.0) as my first canopy off student status and have put about 30 jumps on it since then. Only having flown larger student canopies before this I don't have much to compare it to, but I'm really happy with it. Very smooth openings, even when I tuck the slider into the tail, and on heading. No problems landing it - crosswind, no wind, higher winds. Jumping is the most stress free part of my week
