  1. I've seen the "little" differences on the picture. PD has the skills and hopefully the will to improve the design.

It will be interesting to see the results on competitions and what pilots will tell who've flown both.

I wouldn't call a pilot and a sabre2 similar. not by its looks nor how they fly. They open differently, have a different recovery arc and the flare is not comparable. This is a whole different story than the PD/NZ Petra/Peregrine.

I know the story about the VelocityEXterminator ;)
And yes...we can call it "american copy" or even better "APS=Advanced Parachute Manufacture" because they sure improved some areas...

  2. It's always the same manner here on DZ. A guy with lots of jumps and many years of experience (not saying that it doesn't might be a big bonus in many cases) is showing up and puts dozens of lines togehter to prove that others must be wrong.
Then the "war" starts and the whole thread is just worthless.

Again, it is my opinion. I do believe that PD copied petra. I might be wrong but common sense tells me an other story.

You're right, I don't have the two canopies with me to compare it. Would be interesting to know what a guy tells you who jumped both canopies.
Then again, look at the attached picture in the thread and tell me they are not very very similar (besides the colour and the jumpers).

Similar like comparing a jetta and a civic!?!? I would accept that point of view when comparing a navigator 260 and a xf 129.

  3. In the case of "petra" it looks like PD is more like a chinese company than an american one.

the peregrine looks like/is a 100% copy of nz aerosports petra. not illegal, fine. I'd go for the original one and support nz aerosports (not saying that I'd fly such a canopy within the next couple of years).

  4. After a long conversation with a DZO, telling me he had issues with every of his 10 vigil 2, I decided to change my order and went for a cypres 2. It seems that every AAD manufaturer has its problems. B|

I am mostly concerned about a possible misfire.

I hate the idea to pop a recently packed reserve, send the unit back, wait and pay the additional packjob.

  5. I got confirmation from two employees of aerodyne that a pilot 188zpX would fit into an I4.
The I4 was designed to fit a 132-150 main.
Drop a mail to aerodyne if you want to be 100% sure about it. I will buy the above mentioned configuration as my first rig.

  6. Hey, glad you made it safely to the ground!
Can you explain me how to deploy with the left hand? Me for myself can't imagine how I could ever reach the handle with the left hand. But maybe I'm just too bulky ;)

In regards to the shoulder surgery: "Please don't do it!" There are many other ways to get your shoulder stabilized. A surgery can make things just worse. The best one would be a good workout. Train your shoulders and they won't pop off anymore.

  7. I think there is nothing to add on this thread.
AggieDave explained you more than well how to progress within the next 100-300 jumps. That should be THE answer on your question.
Your post about "experience" and "holding you back" was useless and you put yourself in the corner.

I really hope you will find the right way to progress without the need of a wheelchair.

  8. I got very little experience in skydiving and therefore canopy control. However, what Brian states makes 100% sense to me.
If you want to master something you have to know the limits. The only way to know where the limits are is to go over them and learn! You will get the feeling when you are at the stall point and how to react without too much stress.
Think about how many jumpers stalled a canopy while landing it without even notice the heavily distorted wing.

  9. I've read through all these Atmonauti posts and without beiing an expert I can certainly say that a lot of you are posting just bullshit. It's a lot about ego at has nothing to do with reality.

My proposal: Take a normal track diver or "flocking" diver and a guy who really is an atmonauti-expert (like MarcoT). Equipp both with a GPS and altitrack. Let them jump and see who will make how much horizontal distance. You can easily calculate angle, horizontal and vertical airspeed etc.

Then you can really judge whether you can compare tracking/flocking and atmonauti.

Before anybody has done such research you should really stop posting BS and stay hooked on your egoshit. The americans invented and perfected hell a lot of stuff but you should consider that maybe just sometimes it is possible that people from abroad might be able to develop something before you did so.

    cheers
    Mo.

  10. Most probably a 150ZPX will be too lose in an I5. In regards to the update of the container sizing chart I got following answer from Aerodyne:
"That is correct. A Pilot 210 Zpx will fit into a Icon I5. Our engineers are
working on updating our packing charts for the web site. We hope to have
    them posted soon
. A ZpX canopy 150 or bigger can pack about 1 1/2-2 canopy
sizes smaller. (i.e. the 210 will pack like a 175.) if the canopy in smaller
then a 150 it will pack about 1 size smaller, due to the amount of binding
tape used. If you have any other questions please let me know."
    Blue Skies,
