Container Options??

Recommended Posts

I am looking for opinions on Container Options. Must have`s vs nice to have`s vs Waste of Money for a First Rig.

Things Like
Articulated Harness
Hip Rings
Chest Rings
Mini Risers
Stainless Hardware
B-12 Snaps
Mini 3 Ring
Other options I should consider?

What makes a biggest difference and what is not really worth the extra expense?

I am Charging the Rig so I dont have a set budget but I dont like spending money on stuff that I dont really need (And I would like to actually pay off the thing some day).

Hip rings are very nice.

Mini Ring and Mini risers go hand in hand. No extra cost.
----how much do you weigh?------

Chest rings aren't necesarry.
Stainless looks cool but it's expensive.
Forget about b-12's

Do you have a choice of rig in mind?

The infinity is my personal choice. They make Good stuff!

The wait time is a definate plus. Besides they have GREAT riser coverage and it's very friendly for you to pack, and for your rigger to pack.

Chest rings are not an option on an infinity.

Get the double wide leg straps.
Get the Parapac option for the Back pad and inside of the leg pads. (trust me on that one)

Order the Kill line with hackey.
Mini risers will be fine.
RSL recommended, I don't know if it's stock.

The rest is just cosmetic, They have a rig designer program on their website.

Good Luck.

articulated harness: same as rings. this is a very nice option to have. nice to have, not need to have. but it definitely will not decrease the resale value of your rig. very comfortable...makes it a little more "form-fitting."

mini-risers/rings: hmm. they look great. most people get them. I have them. they're cooler looking (smaller) than the large rings/risers. sorry, but cooler looking IS why most people get them. They have less mechanical advantage than the larger rings.

stainless steel: nice to have if you like shiny things.

B-12s: i wouldn't. they can tend to dig into your upper thigh when sitting in a plane. they're sorta old school, although some people still use them and love them. i'd HIGHLY recommend thread-thru.

other options:

collapsible pilot chute: yes
hackey: nice to have, not need to have
RSL: for now, yes.
pinstriping: nice to have, not need to have
velcro-less toggles: yes
soft reserve: no, not yet. stick with what you know (metal handle) if you only have 10 jumps.
BOC: for you, now, yes.

i know this isn't all-inclusive, but i hope this is a good start. :)

Anything you must have will not be optional on the rig.

After that its just a matter of taste/percieved bang for the buck for your skydiving.

I just got a rig and the only options I got was Unisyn harness and B-12's(yes I'm old school)

No, Not without incident
