kkeenan 13 #1 December 26, 2005 Since Liz has loosed this upon the CRWDog e-mail list, I'll consider it in the Public Domain. With all due props, Liz. kevin K. ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; In the tradition of "Sparky the CRWDog," I bring you my offering this holiday season. 'Twas the day of the record; all were ready to go. Not a creature was goofing, not even Jimbo! The wings would be hanging their slots with much care, in hopes that their lockups soon would be there. The injured were nestled all snug in their casts, envisioning locking up wings really fast. And Gay with his weights on and Lewis's main, had just settled in for a ride in the plane. While out on the lawn we waited once more to get in our CASA, the last of the four. Up to twelve thousand we flew like a flash, Geared up, checked our handles, and threw up the sash. The sun sinking low at the end of the day Made it tricky to find the building big-way, When what to my wondering eyes should appear but a 36-way on our flank drawing near! With two sets of echelons docking so quick, I felt in my heart that this might do the trick. More rapid than eagles the jumpers they came; And I bet all the cameramen called them by name: "Now Tamsin! Now Cheryl! Now Remko and Gavin! On Shumways! On Bauer! On Holger and Kevin!" Sarge kept up a cadence, a warning to all, "Aahch and look up!" his perennial call! Had the engineers wondered just how it would fly, they found out as it cut cleanly right through the sky So up to this beauty my wing-team we flew, with its zipper of lockups, including me too! And then, in a twinkling, I heard in my ear, "Complete! We're complete!" as the landscape drew near. The starburst call came as we neared to the ground, so I followed my group and we all turned around. As I look'ed around at my comrades in flight, I joined in the chorus of whoops of delight! The descent was pure joy as I turned to look back at the vanishing sun glinting light off my pack and on landing I raced to join in with each very warm handshake and hug as we laughed and made merry! For official or not, we had done something great But for word from the judges we'd still have to wait. The arbiters finished reviewing at last, and turned to reveal CRWDogs pressed 'gainst the glass! But they made us all wait as they spoke with The Five, so we packed, and we logged, and we basked in the dive. The Committee soon called us together to meet And I sat, like my friends, on the edge of my seat; A spring in their step 'ere a word had been said Soon gave me to think we had little to dread. They gave not a smile, but got straight to the point And you sure could have heard a pin drop in the joint when cocking her head and flashing a grin, Mary Lou said the record books we would be in! We sprang to our feet, and we cheered and we whistled, And away flew our stress like the down of a thistle. The Committee exclaimed as we left for the night, "We will break it again in the next morning's light!" Happy Holidays to all of my wacky, wonderful extended family.
