skreamer 1 #1 June 20, 2002 What is the maximum speed you could reach in a downplane? (using dedicated CReW canopies at a loading of 1.2 or lower)If you could give me some figures using meters per second as the unit of speed I'd appreciate it.ThanksWill"Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"
CReWpilot 0 #2 June 20, 2002 For two Sabre 170's, the speed is around 75 mph. For the canopy you are jumping it depends on what size it is. The actual wing loading does not have any affect on the speed of the downplane. Only two things will change the speed, the size and the type of canopy (i.e. two vx's will come down alot faster than two triatholons). I have never done any d/p's with lightnings or prodigies (don't know which you are jumping) but depending on the size of them it is probably somehwere around 70-80 +/-.
