thatfreaksam 0 #1 November 5, 2014 What's your opinion on using a DLSR for video? I'm in the market for a new camera, but I want something that provides crisper video than my CX100. Are there specific models that are better than others? What about lenses? Do you have a preferred lense over another? Why?
johnmatrix 21 #2 November 6, 2014 I am using a Canon 600D occasionally and while I'm not an expert yet I'm quite happy with it. I'm still using a CX100 and Sony action cam as well. Here's a nice video on the 7D MarkII though this gear might be overkill for a first DSLR... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOvaGyEsgC0
thatfreaksam 0 #3 November 6, 2014 You don't have problems with the autofocus while in freefall with your 600D?
johnmatrix 21 #4 November 6, 2014 Honestly, I haven't even noticed. - probably only shot video with it 5 times and haven't paid a lot of attention to the results as yet. Mainly got it to take pics.
gearless_chris 1 #5 November 12, 2014 Only the T4i and up have autofocus in video mode, and it is horrible. If there isn't enough movement it will hunt back and forth trying to find out if it is in focus or not. Better off just using it in manual."If it wasn't easy stupid people couldn't do it", Duane. My momma said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up, so I became an a$$hole.
