Another first camera setup

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

First off, my disclaimer: I am aware of the dangers of using a camera when not experienced enough (distraction, snag point etc etc). Although I am already allowed to jump a camera now, I do not plan on using this setup until I have 180+ jumps and feel confident enough that I can handle the extra responsibility and not put myself or anyone else in danger from being distracted and caught up in the camera.

So now that I have received my Xmas bonus I am keen to put together my camera setup so in a few months when I am ready, the setup is ready. I plan on using it as a inside camera for FF jumps and would like to get into filming outside video, starting off with filming solos and 2-way FS and moving up from that.

I already have a Cookie MXV helmet with a quick release chin cup. The setup I am looking for is a Sony camera on top in either a Cookie black box or cage, mounted on a Liquid Flatlock. For stills, I would like to mount my GoPro on top, in front and below the Sony. How can I achieve this? I have been checking out Zkulls overkill mount http://www.chutingstar.com/newgear_en/zkulls-hero-overkill-dual-mount.html - would I be able to use the overkill mount in tandem with the flat lock? Would the overkill just go under the flat lock? Should I forget about the Flatlock and just go for the Zkulls, and if so how would I mount the cookie box to that so its quick to release? How did you achieve this configuration? Pictures?

Besides the mounts and boxes, all I still need a wide angle lens and HypeEye D pro. I think I will get a sight later on. Is there anything else I'm missing?

Personally I would prefer both cameras on top but I have read some freeflyers prefer it mounted on the side - why?

Thanks, BS

Mark
