tombuch 0 #51 July 21, 2003 Quote The test was carried out today and my reserve pin failed. Did it BREAK or bend? A BROKEN pin is failure and needs to be reported to Capewell ASAP. A bent pin is just an issue that grounds the rig, but is not considered failure by Capewell, as I understand it. It sounds like you have a tough issue to deal with. The phone number for Capewell in the USA is 860-610-0700.Tom Buchanan Instructor Emeritus Comm Pilot MSEL,G Author: JUMP! freeatlast 0 #52 July 21, 2003 It bent with about 8lbs of pressure on it ... It was so bent we couldn't turn it the final 90 to see if it would break !!! - does this mean I'm paying for the replacement of my faulty pin ??? It just adds to the hurt !!! - I was supposed to be heading off for europe in 3 days with my rig and now I haven't got a rig that works AND I might have to foot the bill too ... But I guess its better to find out this way than the alternative !!!
askir 0 #53 July 21, 2003 You could have Sunpath send the good ripcord to the DZ you will be visiting and have their local rigger re-pack you and you would be in Biz...as far as the money for the new ripcord...well that would be your money. freeatlast 0 #54 July 21, 2003 I'm not sure which DZ I'll be visiting (or when !!!) So I couldn't tell them where to send it ... Also last time I tried to do that the rigger didn't have time to sort my rig out - I ended up with a half-connected RSL !!! The rigger at the next DZ I visited ended up taking it off again as it wasn't put only properly (not dangerous just half-finished job !!!) So I don't want to have that happen again !!!
