Getting songs FROM an ipod???- mac

Ok.... Heres the thing. I have 1000's of tunes on my ipod and want to use them for editing.....

But you cannot take songs FROM the ipod TO the computer:S

There was a program i used for the pc a couple of years ago called winamp and just get an ipod plug in.
now i have a mac[:/]

Anyone have any ideas????? Just want to use aall those tunes ive spent so long collecting:)

I had to do that a few years ago on a Mac. I forget what I used, but I found it quickly on the web doing a simple search. As I recall, there were lots of hacks out there that would do the job. Apple deliberately made it somewhat difficult so the iPod didn't become a sneaker-net version of Napster.

Or, you just browse the iPod as a disk and you will find ALL your mp3's lumped into 50 folders with encrypted names, but intact ID3 tags. You can then use a batch tagger (there are MANY out there... mp3tag, tagscanner, etc) to rename the filenames based on the tags.
