Camera help!

Please can you help me with recommending a good video camera for jumping.

I have decided on a Cookie Composites camera helmet and the website is quite helpful in giving a list of Sony cameras that will fit the helmet.

I've asked jumpers at my DZ but it seems that the camera's get discontinued quite quickly. I understand that I need a LANC socket on the camera but am having a complete NIGHTMARE finding a suitable camera (I'm not that technically minded either).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm just using the camera for fun jumping so not really after a very expensive or top of the range one (I am a poor skydiver afterall). I am a UK jumper - as I guess that makes a difference to the camera.

No need for a LANC port unless you feel 'Must' have a cameye. Many people run a camera without a cameye or similar so no need to worry.

As for a camera, on this side of the world we swear by SONY, any model.

Have fun, and dont be upset when the first few jumps dont deliver any footage. Battery, cameye etc learning curve
