philly51 0 #1 August 22, 2006 I'm thinking of getting a general purpose cam for skydiving. Might give this video thing a shot. Any advice on type, lenses, manufacturers, etc? Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, Shouting "...holy shit...what a ride!" steveorino 7 #2 August 22, 2006 Sony has the best reputation among skydivers. A search in this forum will lead to a lot of results, but most will say Sony. I have a Sony HC 40 and love it! Very affordable on Ebay. I use a Dimond .3 lens, but a Kenko .5 is a good starter lens IMHO steveOrino

I managed to screw up my camera that way unfortunately. The camera does ok strapped to the outside of my helmet (on an L-bracket), but the filter ring on the camera didn't do so well when I hit the bar in the door on the way out with the lens. I had a riser slap rip the entire lens and connecting threads off a camera early on in my video career. It was a side mount on an "L" brackets. steveOrino
