Jiggs 0 #1 November 27, 2003 Hey all, Just in the process of getting my stills setup altoghether at the moment. I have an EOS 300V and was wondering if anyone has experience with either the 19-35 Tamron or equivalent? I know its not going to be the best piece of glass but I am looking for suggestions other than get a Canon prime lense. I am getting a pretty good deal on one, $500 AUD (or about 300ish US). The 19mm is overkill for what I need but I have not seen anything else new or second hand that I could would get me round to the 20-24mm area for this price. Does anyone have any suggestions? Retail in US maybe but buying any bloody thing in Australia tends to be more expensive. Hell the "retail" price on 300D's is2k ($1400 USD). Its the best price I have gotten by a fair margin. genoyamamoto 0 #4 November 27, 2003 I have a tokina 19-35/3.5-4.5 lens that I never really used much except for a few landscape shots. I always used it stopped down at least two stops. It's a bit soft wide open, a better than a consumer grade lens, but if you shoot film and process at a mini-lab, you won't really notice as they defocus their printing lens anyway and it tends to look like grain under a loupe. There's some vignetting, not a probelm if you go digital. I'm guessing the tamron lens perfroms similarly. If I were going to australia anytime soon (never been there) i'd sell it to you as i'm looking to get rid of it since I got the 24-70 2.8L. pm me if you want some sample shots from the lens to give you an idea of what to expect.
