ianmdrennan 2 #1 June 29, 2005 Hey HH, For the last 2 weeks I've been unable to access this site from work (not necessarily a bad thing ) but anyway...I know we don't block any sites at all so I did a trace and came back with the following: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. tracert www.dropzone.com Tracing route to www.dropzone.com [69.28.204.81] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms (Removed WorkIP) 2 4 ms 4 ms 4 ms (Removed WorkIP) 3 4 ms 23 ms 5 ms car01-s2-0-4.atlngabu.cbeyond.net [192.168.14.109] 4 5 ms 6 ms 5 ms bgr00-g1.cnaxgama.cbeyond.net [192.168.34.10] 5 6 ms 6 ms 5 ms ge-9-0-133.hsa1.Atlanta1.Level3.net [209.246.169.33] 6 6 ms 6 ms 6 ms ae-1-55.bbr1.Atlanta1.Level3.net [4.68.103.129] 7 19 ms 19 ms 19 ms as-1-0.bbr1.Washington1.Level3.net [4.68.128.201] 8 20 ms 20 ms 19 ms ge-1-1-51.car4.Washington1.Level3.net [4.68.121.15] 9 19 ms 19 ms 19 ms cpr2-gigabitethernet2-2.VirginiaEquinix.savvis.net [208.173.52.73] 10 20 ms 20 ms 80 ms dcr1-so-6-1-0.Washington.savvis.net [208.173.52.114] 11 21 ms 21 ms 21 ms bcs2-so-5-2-0-500.Washington.savvis.net [204.70.192.162] 12 95 ms 96 ms 95 ms acr1-so-1-0-0.Seattle.savvis.net [204.70.193.61] 13 94 ms 95 ms 94 ms bpr3-so-0-0-0.SeattleSwitchDesign.savvis.net [208.172.83.61] 14 94 ms 94 ms 96 ms peer-1-networks.SeattleSwitchDesign.savvis.net [208.173.49.54] 15 99 ms OC48POS6-0.van-dis-2.peer1.net [216.187.88.225] reports: Destination host unreachable. sangiro 4 #2 June 30, 2005 PM me your work IP. Chances are I may have banned the IP block from the site in response to some scam. In some cases I have banned entire IP blocks where I see repeated scam attempts coming from them. Your (innocent) work IP may be in a block like that.Safe swoops Sangiro
sangiro 4 #3 July 1, 2005 Hey Ian, Just looked at your post again and spotted the IP address you have next to Dropzone.com (at the very top). That changed about 2 weeks ago from 69.28.204.81 to 216.18.5.81. (There are 2 others but this seems to be the relevant one for you). Not sure if you guys use some sort of IP/domain caching or if the nameserver you are hitting is just really slow but when you do a traceroute www.dropzone.com should not be associated with the IP you have on there anymore. That one has been retired and will indeed come up dead. Ask your IT guys if they do local IP/domain caching. If so, then it's time to refresh.Safe swoops Sangiro
