Schroeder 0 #1 January 27, 2004 Hi guys. I just checked my email this morning, and there was a note on there from "System Anti-Virus Administrator " saying "Attention: [email protected] A virus was found in an Email message you sent. This Email scanner intercepted it and stopped the entire message reaching its destination. The virus was reported to be: virus WORM_MIMAIL.R Please update your virus scanner or contact your IT support personnel as soon as possible as you may have a virus on your system. Your message was sent with the following envelope: MAIL FROM: [email protected] RCPT TO: [email protected] ... and with the following headers: --- MAILFROM: [email protected] Received: from unknown (HELO dropzone.com) (203.110.141.204) by titan2.mapsolute.com with SMTP; 27 Jan 2004 02:36:27 -0000 From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Test Date: Tue, 27 Jan 2004 13:31:34 +1100 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="----=_NextPart_000_0009_4325637E.16BC18B0" X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal ------------------------------------------------------------ I realize that this would have had to be the new virus sending emails on my behalf, but how could this have worked through webmail? I mean, how did it get control of a webaccount? Unless it's maybe on the dz.com server? I dunno, someone put my mind at ease, please.
Gawain 0 #2 January 29, 2004 I could be wrong, but a lot of virii that screw with email, etc, usually spoof the "from" address. So, your account probably never sent it, but the system that caught it and replied thought you were the origin. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
