rhys 0 #1 April 15, 2008 I have just acquired an Jyro (brand) Icarus (model) 105 built in 1993, for a spare canopy. Only having been in the sport for 6 years I had no idea about skydiving in 1993 From what I have learned, a 105sq/ft zp 9cell parachute must have been quite 'Gnarly' back then so to speak. What was the smallest/fastest canopy that any of you old farts can remeber from 1993?"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

I tried a friend's 99 sq ft Icarus Extreme when I had 600 jumps. Scared the fuck out of me. pchapman 262 #3 April 15, 2008 Quote What was the smallest/fastest canopy that any of you old farts can remeber from 1993? I notice the 1993-1994 Para Gear catalogue does show Glide Path Nova's down to 99 in size, and PD Sabres were down to a 97 minimum. Stilettos were advertised but must have been brand new as no sizes were listed yet. I don't know what time of year the Para Gear catalogue is published, but it suggests a few small canopies were available in 1993. Others would know better how rare it would be to actually find people flying such small canopies at the time.
faulknerwn 37 #4 April 15, 2008 I remember back in 1995 buying a Jonathan 105 (deciding to stay bigger and not buy the Jonathan 92 that was available.) I know Stilletto 107's were available then as well because PD wouldn't sell me one because I didn't have 500 jumps :-) (Even tho I only weighed 110 at the time!)
